Q&A With | Nóra Tóth-Fekete | Pianist / Keyboardist | Hungary, Hungary

To assist you in booking Hungarian Based Pianist/Keyboardist Nóra Tóth-Fekete for your upcoming event, we recently had a Q&A session with them!Nora Toth Fekete 1

Q. What are the most common events that you perform at?
A. When I work as a cocktail pianist, I play mostly in restaurants in the evenings. In this case, the programme contains pop and jazz music as well as other popular melodies. Of course, considering I am trained as a classical pianist, I also perform solo concerts with classical repertoire.

Q. How long have you been in the entertainment industry?

A. Since 2012.

Q. Whereabouts have you played in the country/world?
A. I started to play in my country, in Hungary. Later on I played on cruise ships in the Mediterranean area, and with a trio in Jakarta and in Bali.

Q. Describe your act in 5 words. A. Beautiful and agreeable piano music.

Q. Is there audience interaction in your act?
A. It depends on the place. If there is enough space sometimes people start to dance a little waltz or tango. Usually they come to the piano to ask for a song or to ask about music or to talk a bit in the break between two sets.

Q. What do you personally enjoy most about performing?
A. For me, the most enjoyable part of performing is communication.
Communication with the audience through the music, and communication with other musicians and singers during the common work.

Q. Are there any occasions that your act is better suited to?
A. My music suits events when people need delicate, live piano music. For instance: music in a hotel lounge, special dinners, weddings.

Q. Are there any occasions that you would not advise to hire your act for?      A. I have quite a lot of experiences playing in restaurants. And on the second place of this list is recitals. I’m good at accompanying, especially with singers.

Q. Do you have overtime charges if the event runs late?                                              A. Since usually I have a long term contract, I work within a fixed time frame. It doesn’t really count if I play a bit more.

Q. What questions would you need to know from a booker?                                     A. Monthly salary? How many hours I have to play per day? Do I have day off? Do they pay my air tickets, visa, accommodation, food and laundry? What piano they have? What kind of repertoire they need? How long the contract is?

Q. Do you have any video links on your Profile for a booker to view your act? A. Yes, on Youtube.

Q. Can you tailor your act to the booker’s requirements?
A. My repertoire contains many different styles from classical to pop music. I can compile song lists for a recital or a list of soft background music. I like to work together with other musicians and to learn new music for the common shows with them. I update my repertoire continuously according to the bookers’ and guests’ requirements.

Q. What is the average duration of your act?
A. Usually I play 4, maximum 5 hours per day in 45 minutes sets. The recitals are different, it takes 50 minutes.

Q. What sets your act apart from your competition?
A. With classical roots I play many kinds of music. The piano technique is well trained and I can use the piano sound as an auditive decoration. I use an iPad with a discrete air turn pedal. With this I can fulfill the guests’ requests  more effectively. My repertoire is always on hand.

Q. What kind of outfit will you wear?
A. Long, elegant evening dresses.

Q. Would you say you have a good rapport with your audience?
A. According to my experiences, I can say that people who really like music or play music even at hobby level often come to me to talk. It’s happened many times that they’ve come to the restaurant every evening because they liked my music. I would say I have a good rapport with my audience.
