Q&A With Ocean’s 3 | Rat Pack Tribute Act | Scotland

To assist you in booking Aberdeenshire Based Rat Pack Tribute Act for your upcoming event, we recently had a Q&A session with them! Ocean's 3

Q. What are the most common events that you perform at?
A. We usually play weddings, corporate gigs and private functions.

Q. How long have you been in the entertainment industry?
A. We have been performing together for over 11 years.

Q. What’s your most favourite gig to date and why?
A. It’s hard to pinpoint a favourite gig as we always have a blast whenever we perform. If you put your heart and soul into it you’ll always have fun.

Q. Describe your act in 5 words
A. Fun, Relaxed, Light-Hearted, Smooth, Swinging.

Q. Whereabouts have you played in the country/world?
A. Performed in many venues across the whole of Scotland from hotels to stately homes and castles. We also performed on a National Trust for Scotland cruiseship which circumnavigated Iceland.

Q. Performing your act, what’s your biggest achievement so far?
A. I’m very proud of everything we have achieved with Ocean’s 3. Particularly the longevity of something which just started out as an idea in a pub between 3 friends. What pleases me most is when we perform at a gig and someone approaches us at the end to say that we performed at their wedding x number of years ago and that their friends and family still talk about how much they enjoyed our show.

Q. Is there audience interaction in your act?
A. We tailor our show to suit the venue and client. But often we include audience participation in our show. We don’t drag people up and embarrass them but we do talk directly to our audience and perform songs that include audience sing-a-longs etc.

Q. What is one of the highlights of your show?
A. We do enjoy the finale of our show. We end with a couple of crowd pleasers that always get the audience up on their feet.

Q. What do you personally enjoy most about performing?
A. I love that personal relationship that gets built up with every audience at every gig. No matter how familiar and rehearsed we are with the format every show is still totally unique for that audience and will never happen again. There is a bond that builds up during every show and it is very special.

Q. Are there any occasions that your act is better suited to?
A. Our show is quite adaptable but we work very well at weddings during or after the meal.

Q. Are there any occasions that you would not advise to book you for?
A. We are not a party band so not really suited for being put on late in the evening after guests have been dancing all night to a DJ. Our show is very specifically a Rat Pack show so drunken guests will not want to dance to Sinatra if they have been dancing to Abba and Beyonce all night!

Q. Is your act child-friendly?
A. We occasionally get a bit cheeky but never anything unsuitable to the audience we are performing for.

Q. What’s the biggest crowd you’ve performed to so far?
A. We once performed at the Aberdeen Exhibition Centre during Offshore Europe Week The room had about 7 thousand people in it.

Q. What type of occasion/event have you the most experience in performing at?
A. Weddings are probably our most common type of show.

Q. Do you have over-time charges if the event runs late?
A. Our show is usually 2hrs. 2 x 1hr sets. We can play more if needed but we find this length suits our style of show perfectly.

Q. Do you have an ideal age-range for your act?
A. 0-100 !!

Q. What sets your act apart from your competition?
A.We take pride in what we do and don’t take ourselves too seriously. For us the client is the most important people so we leave our egos at the door. We set up early before guests arrive and ensure that we give the client exactly what they need during the course of the day.

Q. What was your worst gig and why?
A. See question 11! A few months ago we turned up to do a show in a hotel function suite. It was a ladies charity night. We were put on at about half past 9, by which point everyone was very drunk and dancing away to a very loud DJ. Before we even started I knew they were not our audience. And sure enough, they weren’t.

Q. How long before the event do you typically arrive at the venue?
A. It depends. We always find out in advance when guests are arriving and then make sure we are set up before them.

Q. Would there be any fees that the booker is not accounting for?
A. We always include all extras in our quote so no nasty surprises for them!

Q. What kind of outfit will you wear?
A. Black and white tuxes.

Q. Do you require help to set up your equipment/set-up?
A. We are big boys and look after ourselves 🙂

Q. Would you say you have a good rapport with your audience?
A. It’s what we do best.
