Description

Chris mainly performs music from the American songbook including songs by Sinatra, The Ratpack, Bobby Darin, Nat King Cole e.t.c
Chris can also perform an array of Elvis tunes and a number of rock n' roll/popular tunes to suit the needs of the booking.
Chris can tailor any event to your needs. Typical solo performance packages would be 2 x 45min sets, 2 x60min sets, 1 x 60 min or 1 x 85 min sets.
Performances could also be staggered throughout the day e.g 4 x 30min sets with 30min intervals. Its up to you!
Chris can also be hired with a pianist, a jazz quartet or a 17 piece big band ... if you want a real live music experience.
Chris can also learn one song of choice free of charge (included in any booking above 85 mins).
Full PA system will be provided, with possible use of microphones for speeches or announcements e.t.c if needed.

Biography

Based in London, Chris "Smarty" James is an up and coming Jazz singer from the UK who has emerged onto the scene as one of the best voices around. A deep, rich tone with power and a soft subtlety reminiscent of the greats.

Chris began performing from the age of 15 and achieved success in his early days with his high school band getting play time on BBC Radio 1, Radio 2 and supporting bands like 'Reef' and 'Basement Jaxx'.
He went on to study at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts where he graduated shaking hands with one of his idols Paul McCartney.
After this he manag ... ed to secure international residencies in places such as the Cape Verde Islands, entertaining hundreds in high-class hotels.

As a professional jazz singer Chris has been noted for his spectacular live shows. Working with numerous renowned acts such as The Swingshift Big Band, his headline show has sold out in theatres across the North West including the prestigious Theatre Clywd. Previous clients of Chris include Everton football club and She Network.
He has recorded at the famous Parr Street Studios in Liverpool and appeared live on BBC Radio Merseyside to much acclaim.
A masterful take on the classics combined with his charm and charisma cements Chris as one of the best crooners on the scene with still so much more to come from this rising star.
