Dulcie May and Stephen perform a number of standards, Latin, Soul and Blues songs as a duo. Stephen is a very textural guitarist, being one of the finest and highly respected Jazz Guitarists in Kent, he has no problem filling the sound out with his creative and exciting playing, the perfect tonic for Dulcies' voice, ethereal and smooth with an exceptional range.
They are both vibrant with character and charisma and of course bring this into the performance, captivating an audience and leaving them hanging on to every note.

Biography

We have over 30 years combined music and performance experience and are both Self employed.
From touring with big bands to weddings and private parties and functions, we also have had a number of residencies at venues lasting for over a year at a time.

The singer and guitarist usually work together as a duo, and they’d just had an hour or so with Paul before the gig. Ms Moreno said she had a frog in her throat, (didn’t show), but none of this hindered the band from giving us a thoroughly enjoyable evening, which was also part of the Late Show events. The first three songs were good but a little restrained: Comes Love; Caravan; and That Old Black Magic, but then Ms Moreno really showed what she could do with No Moon At All, and on all the songs which followed. The voice was gentle and sweet when appropriate, keenly emotional and heartfelt for songs such as Stormy Weather, and showed skilful improvisations for numbers such as Fascinating Rhythm. The lads did their stuff admirably, we expect nothing less, excellent guitar, especially when he played for the slower numbers, and Paul was great as usual, notably the solo on Moanin’ and the lovely intro to Falling In Love With Love, which was just bass and voice.
