Show Description
With effortlessly sublime vocal blends and heart-melting piano, Emma and Dan will transport you to the speakeasy jazz bars of yesteryear.
These two know how to stay true to the craft of jazz, with a deep respect for the elders who went before them – think Ella, Sinatra and Judy Garland – all the while knowing how to have fun with it. Emma’s lead vocals are natural, warm and rich, seamlessly blending with Dan’s mastery of classic and sensitive musicianship.
Romance is this duo’s middle name.
Emma
Emma is a self-described ‘jazz cat’ who grew up listening to ‘the greats
... on vinyl with her Poppa. She once envisioned a future in the kitchen as a chef, but a few dazzling performances on Australian TV (The Voice AU and Channel 9’s Love Child) whisked her off that path and sent her on her way.
In recent years she’s enjoyed her share of success as a singer-songwriter in the Australian music scene. Emma has toured as a support act for US band One Republic, performed in front of 90,000 people at Sydney’s Carols in the Domain and most recently was a featured soloist with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra. Emma is at ease with the bright lights of the big stage but at her most relaxed performing soulful, acoustic tunes in intimate and romantic settings.
Dan
A musical aficionado in his own right, Dan is the perfect gentleman to Emma’s vocal dance, twirling her around each arrangement like an ever-dependable dance partner. Known as a ‘heart-core’ multi-instrumentalist, Dan brings energy, grace and feel to every musical situation.
Since graduating his jazz-piano studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Dan has worked around Australia and abroad, touring with bands and artists including The Usual Suspects, Carl Risely (Australia Idol) and Chris Ninni (The Voice).
Whether performing background music for over dinner or as the entertainment focus of your event, Emma and Dan are the perfect choice to create the right atmosphere for your occasion.

Biography
Emma Birdsall is a Sydney performer who has enjoyed over 6 years of commercial success as a singer, songwriter and theatre actor in the Australian scene. A string of dazzling performances on the first season of The Voice (Australia's highest rating TV show of all time) and 9's hit drama 'Love Child' whisked her off her dream path to become a chef and into a full-time career as one of the country's freshest and most versatile performers...
A class act on and off the screen, Emma has a gift with words as both a singer-songwriter and a polished public speaker. She has spent time training at re
... putable Sydney acting studio 'The Actor's Pulse'; performed as the character Miriam Aarons in a sold out season of the critically acclaimed 1936 play 'The Women' for Sydney Fringe festival; lead a month-long children’s stage show in Indonesia and collaborated with some of the best Australian writers, producers and musicians on her work. She is also a talented voice over actor.
Emma has toured as a support act for US band One Republic, performed in front of 90,000 people at Sydney's Carols in the domain and was a featured soloist with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra for their Noel Noel series in 2015. She absolutely loves a grand stage, but says she feels most at home when she can see and hear her audience, performing in intimate and relaxed settings. She has played multiple shows with her jazz quintet at the iconic Sydney venue ‘Venue 505’ and recently performed at Melbourne’s hottest new venue ‘The Jazz Lab’.
On screen, the 25 year old has made dazzling appearances in all four seasons of 9’s smash hit ‘Love Child’. Channeling the soul singing chanteuses of the 60’s and 70's, Emma’s performances of classics such as ‘This Girl's In Love’, ‘Wild World', 'What A Man' and 'Dark End Of The Street' have been mesmerising, capturing the attention of not only the public, but some of Australia’s most reputable acting agents. She hopes to further pursue film and television in the near future.
Among her creative pursuits, Birdsall is also a compassionate soul and has taken on seasonal ambassadorial roles for projects with Compassion Australia, Barnardos Australia, Stand Tall, SunSCHine, The Reach Foundation, Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation and OzHarvest.
When this beautiful singer opens her mouth and croons so beautifully, it's clear those early days listening to The Greats have had their effect. Her smooth blend of jazz, soul and RnB comes through in all genres she puts her hand to, making her one of the country’s top choices for luxury corporate events and private functions. Emma is a polished professional with a real warmth, depth and openness that shines bright when she performs and blends perfectly into other roles, whether it be hosting/MC'ing events, recording voiceovers or engaging in radio and live television appearances.
Emma's debut Jazz EP 'Side A: For Eric', is on iTunes and all streaming services now. Purchase or listen to the EP via the link on the homepage. Be sure to check out the EVENTS page to keep up to date with Emma's upcoming shows!
