Biography

My name is Olivia Turpin and I am 20 years old. I would say I am very hardworking, reliable and determined to succeed. Other qualities I would say describe myself are being very responsible, friendly and a good team worker. I am a good leader however also know how to follow instruction when given to me. I am always enthusiastic and like facing challenges to further my ability. I would say I am a people person, confident and a quick learner. Experience

I have been training in dancing, singing and acting since the age of 6 at Elaine Howarth’s Centre Stage Dance Studio. I have training in Ballet, Tap, Modern Jazz, Theatre Craft, Commercial, Lyrical, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Gymnastics dance and Acting. I have taken IDTA examinations in all the subjects above, from preparatory grade to advanced 1, never getting below an honours or distinction. I have been competing regionally on stage since the age of 7. From that age I have danced solos, duets, trios and troupes in the genres ballet, tap, modern, character and song and dance. I have a ... collection of over 300 medals won in these competitions, approximately 200 of which are gold medal placings. I have also competed in IDTA dance championships gaining a 6th place in junior modern and senior modern, 4th in both senior song and dance and modern, a 2nd in senior song and dance and the title 1st in senior song and dance. My first-place title in senior song and dance allowed me to attend champions of champions in the senior song and dance category in 2017. As well as this, I have been nominated 4 times for the IDTA Scholarship Auditions. I have attended the IDTA scholarships auditions for Grade 4 Ballet in 2015, Grade 5 Theatre craft in 2015, Intermediate Ballet in 2017 and Grade 4 Modern Jazz in 2019. As a dance school we perform an annual show each year, which I thoroughly look forward to end enjoy taking part in. I have recently performed as a dancer in the York Barbicans pantomime, The Wizard of Oz. I love to perform on stage more than anything in the world and hope to pursue this as a career one day. I am extremely hard working, capable and determined to achieve a dream I have always had.
I am currently taking my teachers exams in the genre Theatrecraft. I have recently passed my Theatrecraft Pre Associate exam part 1 with 92 marks (distinction) and Pre Associate part 2 with 90 marks (distinction). I love to teach children dancing. I help assist baby ballet and preparatory ballet classes as well as the odd modern jazz/Theatrecraft/tap class where needed.

Acting Experience

I love to act! I have performed in Aladdin the pantomime as the wicked wizard Abanazar and Cinderella the pantomime as Dandini. In competition solos duets and trios, I have also played characters such as Jeckell and Hyde, Fagin, the queen of hearts and the Hunchback of Notre Dame winning 1st on many occasions.
