Born in Oporto, she sees herself as a proud northern Portuguese woman. Innately curious and never satisfied, from a very early age her parents struggled with one question: how to keep this child entertained? And then came the introduction to…
Starting with piano and musical training, quickly the Music Conservatory became the best way to go. There she received an exemplary musical education, and when the piano became insufficient to explore her more creative (and always curious) side it was the Conservatory that opened the doors to the world of Composition and to the entrance on E ... scola Superior de Música de Lisboa, where she graduated in Composition and ‘officially’ became a contemporary classical music composer. Music festivals, music reading panels, commissions from orchestras and musicians, CD edition, everything was well underway to build a career dedicated to classical music. But in the meantime another passion was growing. And then enters…
Being a social ballroom dancer since the age of 15, when moving to Lisbon she had an urge for a new challenge so she became a Competitive ballroom dancer between 2005 and 2008 (both in WDC and WDSF).
In October 2008, while searching for a new competition partner, an invitation from a friend to do a more comercial dance gig completely changed her course in dance. For the first time she came into contact with classical dance, jazz, salsa, kizomba, broadway, cabaret… Despite never losing the connection to her ‘first love’ - ballroom dance - she realized that by studying and absorbing countless styles she could create her own language and identity as a dancer, teacher and choreographer.
Once again the curiosity bug and the desire to learn more appears: she enters the Faculty of Human Kinetics, finishing in 2012 the Degree in Dance with a merit scholarship for best student.
Combining the academics and teaching life wasn’t easy but it allowed her to reach various dance schools and academies (FullOut Dance Academy, Oeiras Dance Academy, Jazzy Dance Studios, among many others), where she always dedicated herself with body and soul to the art of teaching how to dance. For many years that was her true passion, but life is full of twists and turns. And we go back to…
MUSIC, ONCE AGAIN
In 2014, as a dance teacher at Liberty Seguros, she becomes aware of a music band existing in the company. At the same time, the band also becomes aware that the dance teacher has a connection with music. A few weeks later she joined the Liberty Big Band as one of the vocalists (and sporadic keyboardist), thus returning to (another side of) music. A project that still stands today and that has made her re-discover the will to perform, to be on stage, to share music and dance to whoever wants to see and hear. And to put music and dance together, nothing better than a Cabaret, more specifically the Beco Cabaret Gourmet…
As a conclusion of this ‘story’, she identifies herself as an artist, performer, singer, dancer, teacher, pianist, composer, choreographer…
