Biography

Stephanie Benson’ is the daughter of Queen Nana Boahemaah II, who was until her death, the reigning monarch of Ahenemaah Kokobin in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Stephanie’s father, Samuel Benson Adjepong, was in the foreground of the country’s first democratic election, when Nkrumah became President, he became the first Ghanaian Chief Pharmacist at the Ministry of Health. Stephanie’s birth name is Princess Akua Ohenewaah Asaenim Akotocre Akwasuhemaah.
Stephanie studied music the the National Academy of Music in Cape Coast from the age of 10.
Stephanie’s singing career began a ... fter being given the chance by Peter Stringfellows, of the famous, Stringfellows nightclub, singing and playing at the Piano Bar.
Three months later Peter Waterman of Stock Aitken and Waterman, heard her sing in the club and signed her to his label, PWL as the “Princess” . Stephanie signed a three album deal with PWL to record pop/dance music.
Her first single ‘Now is the Time,’ with PWL went straight to a top 20 position on the UK dance charts. Stephanie began a promotional tour across Europe.
Stephanie, 2 years later was offered another Record deal which allowed her to explore the freedom of other types of music. She decided to leave her label, changed her stage name and began to write the kind of music she enjoyed .
She collaborated with other outstanding songwriters/artists including Andy hill, (Bucks Fizz), Terry Britton (Tina Turner) Danny Schogger (Celine Dion), Wayne Vaughn (Earth Wind and Fire) and among others. She also continued to perform live.
Stephanie has come to be regarded as one of the most sought after live performers in Britain. Across the UK and Europe and recently US, specifically, New York and Los Angeles.
With this exemplary reputation, and not having lost her royal touch, Stephanie plays to the Britain’s royal family, including HRH Prince Charles and his sons, who also disclosed to the press their love for her performances.
Stephanie was the first singer to perform live at the “NEC London Fashion Clothes Show Live” where she showcased her single “Friends”.
Stephanie has therefore performed at various high profile functions from Starlight Foundation for Princess Anne, Rob Van Heldon and Elton John, Charles Worthington, Children in Crisis for HRH Sarah Ferguson, MENCAP, Diamond Ball. NSPCC Ball with Rory Bremner, list is endless.
Stephanie starred, directed and produced her Musical Theatre Show "Reflections" and "Motown Revue, Signed Sealed Delivered", with The Drifters, and star guests like, Kele Le Roc, Chaka Khan, Kym Mazelle, Patrick Allan and many others, touring all over the world, playing to packed theatres. Subsequently in Los Angeles, meeting the stars of the Motown Era, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross and many more.
Stephanie was invited by “Stevie Wonder” as special guest on his concerts at the O2 Arena, London. This was a great privilege and a great honour.
Stephanie has released many low profile singles through the year and fortunately, in 2011, her dance single, "Hanging On" reached these Current Chart Positions:

Stephanie continuous to make an impart in the music industry by opening a School and Programme to help young talanted stars of the future. Benson Entertainment Production Institute, BEPI, employs the best music industry gurus to teach, educate, and groom her potential students and musicians. This is her own foundation, funded and run by herself.
Stephanie in 2015 wrote and produced 3 beautiful gospel songs to help raise funds for Cancer. Working together with the DUTCH Cancer Society, and Kanker En Beeld Foundation, she walked 1912 meters uphill on the Mont Ventoux in France, and performed various concerts to raise approximately 1,000,000 Euros for the Dutch Cancer Society.
Stephanie, has recently been on tour in the UK with her 2 top 20 hit songs in the R&B charts with Good Feeling and Goodbye, a number 1 hit song “One More” in Africa and her recent song “All About Love” is set to be the biggest International hit. Read More
