Biography

Tamika Faith Seckam
Born of Zimbabwean descent, Tamika came into this world as Faith Tamika Seckam in Jackson, Mississippi, USA to Ruth and Bhai (Mohamad) Seckam. At the young age of two, Tamika’s parents and her two brothers Damian and Sean moved back to their native home in Harare, Zimbabwe where Tamika spent the majority of her childhood immersed in gospel music and singing in her father’s church choir. Some of her early influences in music are Alicia Keys, Etta James, Mary J Blige, Lauryn Hill India Arie and Yolanda Adams. At 15, Tamika moved to Calgary, Canada with her family an ... d it was after this move that the idea of a career in music became a reality.
Some of singer, songwriter and producer Tamika’s earlier tracks include Simply Wonderful, Stressless, Throwback Love, Pimp Strut Featuring Shawn Leon and dancehall favourite Yes No featuring Vybz Kartel (2016). In November 2017, Tamika re-vamped her management team and began working with Alisha Young signing under Illusion Music. Her much anticipated and deeply personal EP Faith in Reality was released on ITunes in June 2018 and includes heart gripping, catchy songs such as Love and Lost Part 1, Love and Lost Part 2, Problems and the ultimate breakup song Cut Him Loose. During the creation of this album, producers Chris Copeland, Vex Cobo and Shawn Leon worked closely with Tamika to help tell her most personal story yet.
Tamika is eternally grateful for the opportunities and talent that God has so graciously blessed her with and as she continues to pursue her dreams of becoming a seasoned singer, she remains humble and thankful for all the support that she has received along the way. She vows to stay true to her roots and never forget where she came from. When Tamika isn’t in the studio she loves to spend time with family including her most precious creation, inspiration and motivation to this point, her daughter Mia, her nephews Dante, Jaheim, Jacob and her niece Sydney.
