Biography

ZaaZanna is a talented Vocalist hailing from the Caribbean Island of Saint Lucia. ZaaZanna’s musical career commenced in London, UK, where she took over 2 years professional vocal training with voice coach Nicolino Giacalone, improving her mezzo-soprano technical vocal ability and delivery. As lead vocalist for the Jazz Funk Band, Ocacia, the band played various venues in London, prior to their well received and dynamic performance at the reputed St. Lucia Jazz Festival, in 2000. ZaazAnna also recorded a Jazz/Funk Album with producer Owen A'lik Shahadah of Ocacia.
An Engineer by training ... , ZaaZanna, after living 10 years in the UK, returned to the Caribbean, where she has been a practicing Engineer. An avid Globetrotter, in 2005 ZaaZanna embarked on what was to be the first of many Solo Travel adventures to SE Asia. This maiden trip inspired the recording of a Demo Album in Bangkok, Thailand, representing a point of growth of awareness in the Artist’s career.
A brief stint as supporting Vocalist for the New York based, St. Lucian Reggae Artist Taj Weekes in 2009 at The New Orleans Music Festival, rekindled ZaaZanna’s musical flame. The wonderful crowd reception at this event are moments which every artist cherishes.
A Woman of many talents, ZaaZanna is also the author of a series of Publications, penned under the pseudonym, ZaraAnaiia. ZaaZanna is additionally a Certified Ashtanga Yoga Teacher, having gained qualification in The Mysore Style of Yoga, as popularised by The Father of Modern Yoga, Krishnamacharya, which she utilises as a platform to compliment all her artistic endeavors.
A dynamic and powerful performer, ZaaZanna offers a unique and captivating stage presence, which has always been well received. A diverse singer of 2 Octave Mezzo Soprano range, ZaaZanna is comfortable singing repertoires ranging from Popular Songs, Jazz/Soul Renditions, to Broadway Musicals.
Having compiled a collection of original songs over the years, the Artist aspires to one day professionally record this material, as well as continue to create ever more and current compositions in keeping with the exciting space she today embodies.
