Biography

Gareth is a freelance saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, arranger, producer and educator based in Cape Town, South Africa. He has performed throughout South Africa and internationally with various bands, theatre groups and orchestras. He holds a BMus degree in chamber music and musicology from the University of Stellenbosch and a Jazz Licentiate diploma from Trinity Guildhall London.

Online Saxophone Lessons

I offer fun and engaging music lessons online on a variety of topics to any skill level. I focus on saxophone, but also include flute, clarinet, and electric bass lesson. I also offer topics on music theory - where we can explore music notation and reading scores, understanding chord progressions, chord/scale relationships and composition techniques. I can also assist students in understanding improvisation and how to go about building the skill to be able to solo in any musical style - from jazz, rock, funk, pop etc.

Apart from direct music topics, I can also give masterclasses on music business and music history, not too mention host open Q&A sessions on any questions you have related to music.
