Description

My act as a main event piano/vocalist is very much geared around the audience I am entertaining (age,venue,context). I always engage with my audience in order to make them feel part of the experience. My ethos has always been that public performance is a 2 way thing. I adjust my material depending on audience response and try to mix it up as much as possible, with a combination of old and new, vocal and instrumental. If appropriate I will tell any story attached to the piece, so as to give it an extra layer of meaning. My playing style has been influenced by Elton John, which I sometimes expan ... d upon in the form of a tribute act.

As mentioned above, this is dependant on age range of the audience,venue, and context of the event.
I have a repertoire spanning more than 70 years, including Jazz, Blues, Pop, Rock, Music Theatre, Folk, Country, and Light Classical, including vocal and instrumental, and artists ranging from Duke Ellington to John Legend and Ed Sheeran.

Biography

I have been a professional musician for over 20 years both in a solo and ensemble capacity. I have worked in venues ranging from cafes to 5 star hotels and cruise ships, and including corporate and private parties. I have experience in working as the focus of audience attention and as a background/ambience musician. I am equally happy in both capacities. I have worked with many musicians and ensembles ranging from classical soprano to rock band. I also have lots of experience as a studio and session musician.

I have always found Guy to be nothing but professional. Always immaculately turned out, and courteous both on and off stage to guests. Both as a pianist and vocalist, he excels. I am sure he will be a success wherever he performs.

We have had the pleasure of enjoying this wonderful artist Guy Stoker on the cruise ship Discovery, he has a fantastic voice and is a master on the piano. His alter ego Elton Guy is a wonderful tribute to Sir Elton John, and an experience not to be missed. Guy always has time to come and sit with you and have a conversation in between his sessions, which was so enjoyable, and for which we always looked forward to. He has the ability to make you feel at ease in his company. Our cruises with Guy have been a pleasure, and in our opinion he is a really lovely talented man.

To whom it may concern, I would like to give a reference on behalf of my Mother (77), and myself, (51), to Guy Stoker. We have had the pleasure of enjoying this fantastic artist Guy Stoker on the cruise ship Marella Discovery 2 in 2018. He has a wonderful voice and is fantastic on the piano. His Elton Guy tribute to Sir Elton John was a fantastic experience which I would like to see more of. Guy always makes time to walk around the venue and sit with most of the audience, and also take on board requests of songs that he doesn’t know, and he would say come back tomorrow night and I will sing this song, (he then learns this song ‘words & music notes’ and by the next night he will be playing it on the piano). Guy can also have multiple conversations with different groups of people in between his sessions yet still makes everyone feel they are part of his music session, which we always looked forward to.
