Musician and singer born in Bogotá, Colombia. Andrea started her musical studies at the age of seven with piano, voice, dance and musical theatre lessons at the Misi’s school. Andrea wrote her first song at the age of 10, with which she participated for the first time on a national singing competition winning 2nd place. During her high school years, she participated on different national singing contest bringing home a trophy e ... ach time.
In 2007, she got into the University El Bosque where she studied for 5 years, obtaining her degree in Music with an emphasis in singing. During these years, she had her first approach to jazz. Consequently, she fell in love with improvisation and all the possibilities that jazz had to offer. In 2012, after her graduation, she created and directed “Mandreina”, a quartet that explored jazz sonorities through the transformation of a Latin-American repertoire with Andrea's arrangements. Thanks to this experience, the search for her musical identity started.
In 2013, she moved to Paris looking for different musical influences. She studied French Language and culture at La Sorbonne. In 2014, she was accepted into the Conservatory to study Vocal Jazz with Deborah Tanguy. In this same year, she got the opportunity to sing on the “Festival de Jazz Sur Seine” with French guitarist, Vladimir Medail. Later she created a duo with Ivan Quintero, Colombian guitarist living in Paris; together they gained recognition into the Parisian music scene. A year later, this duo became Akalia Klan, a Latin-American jazz quartet. This project gave them the chance to play in very well-known jazz scenarios in Paris like La cave du 38Riv’, La Vieille Grille’s theatre and La Maison de l’Amérique Latine.
At present, Andrea continues her vocal jazz studies at the Conservatory and will be on tour in as part of the JAzz vocal group "the voice Messengers"; at the same time, she is finishing the compositions and arrangements for her first record in which she wants to create her own sound by combining Colombian traditional music with all of the musical influences that she has attained among her studies. The result should be an album that reflects what she believes she is: a Colombian singer and composer who loves jazz and poetry.
