Description
Piano bar/vocalist, performing a wide range of music, including jazz standards, popular tunes (radio), country, instrumentals, latin, some Spanish/French/Portugeuse, top 10 dueling pianos tunes.
Any of this music can be performed as quiet background music, or as it is most often in my work...integrated with customer rapport; I engage customers in conversation to ascertain what they may want to hear (within my repertoire, I'm always willing to stretch outside the bounds to accommodate their requests);
I also perform on upright bass in jazz combos, often singing while playing. When I'm ask
... ed to back another singer, I can also read their chord charts as needed.

Biography
It's nearly a birthright, to grow up as a musical performer in South Louisiana, as did KASS.
After having performed countless times for festivals and special events (Joni Mitchell Paz Fest, St. Louis Pedal Steel Convention, Abita Springs Opry, Kerrville Folk Music Festival) and many local clubs (Snug Harbor, Bombay Club, Polo Club at the Windsor Court Hotel, Southern Hotel, Live Oak Cafe, The Homestead in Homer, AK), KASS has finally arrived in a place where she is performing the music she has loved all her life---vocal jazz. The most recent version of KASS' performance identity sees her
... playing upright bass while singing jazz standards in combos, and also playing solo at local piano bars. She often branches out into other genres when the chance arises, collaborating with independent songwriters to create her own songs. The addition of the upright bass and solo piano have seriously and joyfully broadened the possibilities.
Experience
Vocalist/alto sax player in 9-piece party band (pop to Glen Miller) (10 yrs);
Vocalist/guitarist/percussionist playing solo/duo for local Americana gigs (2005-present);
Vocalist/upright bassist performing in jazz duo/combo (2017 - present);
Piano bar/vocalist entertainer (2021 - present)
Dueling pianist (2023 - present)

Meet the Act
Finally...after many years of 'jobs' in the field of math education, I made the leap to make music performance my priority! And that led to a transition from occasional party band singer, to upright bassist/vocalist and piano bar entertainer. The piano bar work particularly, allows me freedom to learn all of the music a I love most, without having to run it through committee! There are so many fantastic songs in the universe. So I am now free (my time is my own) to do what I love, and hopefully to travel more often. Cruise ship work is my goal, though I still intend to work in the New Orleans ... area, and wherever the opportunities lead.
Additional Information
*I typically learn new tunes very quickly (so quickly in fact, that it sometimes means slipping out during break-time to learn a request!); although I do not sight-read melody lines, I do sight-read chord charts---on both piano and upright bass. If I need to learn a new tune or melody for a customer at a regular gig, I normally do my homework and return with the tune at the very next opportunity.
