Rosemary Hale
Starting the violin at the age of 10, Rosemary has dedicated most of her time to music and making it a very important part of her life. She also plays the viola, cello, double bass, guitar, and piano. Rosemary grew up with in a very musical family where she had many opportunities to play with youth orchestras and string ensembles in the Durham Region area. Her musical background and influences consists of classical, fiddle and rock.
Rosemary graduated from Cambrian College in Sudbury with a diploma in performance. While in College she played with the North Bay Symphony Or
... chestra and Haledette Trio. Upon completing her schooling, she conducted the New City Strings youth orchestra with much success for 4 years. In her spare time she enjoys continuing to help with the youth orchestra part time. When she moved to this area she formed Rosetta Strings, a string duo that performs for weddings and events around Ontario, bringing classical and popular musical entertainment to each celebration.
Currently, Rosemary teaches strings and theory at Long and McQuade, Avalon Music Academy, and at her private studio in her home. She is also a freelance musician in the Hamilton/Burlington area working on many CD projects and shows in the Hamilton area with some of Hamilton’s greatest independent artists.
This year, she is looking forward to form the Long and McQuade Chamber Group, where her students and other string students at the school will have an opportunity to explore the world of Chamber music and getting a chance to practice and perform with other string players.
Rosemary is a hardworking musician in Hamilton, Burlington, and Dundas areas. She is strongly dedicated to teaching privately, preparing students for concerts and their examinations, and motivating all ages to love, appreciate and play music.
Loretta Hale
Loretta was born in Oshawa, and began playing piano when she was 5 years old under the instruction of her older sister Theresa. Learning more about music and other instruments she literally ran away and soon steered her main focus from the piano to the cello which she has now been playing for just over 18 years, playing in all sorts of community pit bands, quartets, trio's, duo's and youth orchestra's throughout Southern Ontario. To name a few: The Oshawa Youth Orchestra, The Orno Youth Orchestra, Rosetta String Duo, The Sinfonia Sacra, and the Hamilton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.
She graduated from Mohawk College for Cello and Trumpet as well as performance and theory in the 3 year Classical/Jazz program in Hamilton, Ontario. She played in many of the ensembles within the school including the Mohawk College Big Band as a lead trumpet player for 2 years, a jazz orchestra, a cello duo, and playing in ensembles of the jazz, funk, and fusion persuasion. Loretta teaches at Long and McQuade and privately. She also performs with the band Andre & the J-Tones and directs a local big band - The Loretta Hale Big Band. Aside from that she enjoys doing recording sessions, playing with other bands/ensembles in need of a string touch, as well as anything else that comes her way.
