We (waala – afoo culture group) wish to apply for a job on-board as entertainers. We are a of Sixteen (17) members with much experience in traditional drumming and dancing performances,(from Ghana).
We have more than Ten (10 years) working experience in this field and have mastered of craft over the years.
WALA – AFOO CULTURE TROUP is an unsigned indigenous music and dance group based in Tema,Ghana (music/entertainment hub of Ghana) and was founded in February 1990,it is currently made of seventeen members with different skills/talents in music and dance, but initially started with four members who were friends who performed on the street with no instruments. The members of the troup are from different regions of the country (volta,eastern,northern,central and greater Accra region). We are specialize in traditional dance and indigenous African music (music from different parts of Africa like
... high-life,hip-life,bongo etc) and also into jazz, country music, folk music.
The band is headed by ‘David Biney’ an exceptional versatile instrumentalist but major in malacass and drumming, and assisted by ‘Mustapha stadia’ also a drummer, their leadership qualities has brought the band this far as they took over from their predecessors in 2004, as they device plans and strategies for the group and also does the road manager job for the group.
The group is made of six dancers namely (Philip Bortey Borketey, Vivian Lotsu, Mensah Evans Nii Laryea, Samuel Bortey Bortier, Alabi Juliana Bortey, Bornmai Patricia Bortey ). two malacass namely (David Biney and Seth Glover ) six drummers namely (Mensah evans Nii Laryea, Bortei Benjamin Wilson, Kada Karimu, Tetteh Amarh Samuel, Issifu Mustapha Stadia,Otua Moses ) and three trumpeters namely (Acheampong Kwarteng Nana Yaw, Bambil Emmanuel Fiifi, Asante Owusu Victor )
During a competition at one of the biggest traditional festivals in the country (Asafotu festival), David and Mustapha came 1st and 2nd respectively in a traditional drumming competition, and that was where their formal leader ‘chief Ogbo’ brought them together with the other members who took part in the competition and made them one family to take over from them.
In 2015 Wala Afoo came first at the national traditional drumming and dancing competition which was held in Ada with medals to prove it. Since then the group has enjoyed many privileges as citizens and people look forward for their performance during similar events nationwide.
Wala afo have performed on major platforms across the country including the National theatre, Accra international conference Centre, marriage ceremonies, festivals, churches and nearby African countries like Togo,benin and Nigeria for top dignitaries and foreign delegates.
Wala Afo is a house hold name among the traditional music and dance industry in Ghana, we seek to reach larger audience and entertain the world at large by bringing our God given talents and skills to play.
