Biography

Back in my hometown of Shanghai, I tried the “traditional” route to success, studying aviation engineering, then working for an airline for a couple of years. But a part of me always knew that I belonged on stage, not in an office.
So I gave up engineering, dedicated myself to magic full time, and discovered that once you stop fighting destiny, things just fall into place.
Within a year, I was awarded a Certificate of Merit, signed by the one and only David Copperfield, in a TV magic contest. Other awards soon followed, along with highly coveted opportunities to work with top magicians ... from around the world. That early success provided the fuel I needed to go the distance, and I spent the next 15 years performing at international magic festivals, working with directors and TV producers — even running my own magic shop for five years.
Today, I’m based in NYC, and you can find me astonishing audiences all over the city, including at the Rose Room’s Parlor of Wonder and Cabaret shows, LOL Comedy Lounge’s magic night, Magic at Coney, the Parlor of Mystery, and various off-Broadway shows. I also appear as part of NYC’s Little Island Summer and Fall Programming and at Lake Compounce amusement park in Connecticut.

magic Eric Q - Comedy Cabaret Magician - New York City, New York Event Location: NY, NY Event Type: communion party 4th May 2023

Eric did a beautiful job at my daughter's communion party. He interacted with everyone, young and old. We did not want a traditional "show". Eric worked the whole rooms and was highly entertaining. Everyone enjoyed him, both young and old. Eric was engaging and his tricks were impressive. Communication prior to the event was excellent. He added a special magic touch to our party. Would highly recommend him!

magic Eric Q - Comedy Cabaret Magician - New York City, New York Event Location: Queens, NY Event Type: adult birthday party 5th November 2018

I held a 20 person party for my wife's 40th birthday. It was a mix of both adults and kids and I decided to get a magician at the last minute. After looking on Yelp and getting a few quotes, I realized that most of the magicians that had a large number of reviews were waaaay above my price point. I saw that Eric had 3 solid reviews, but, of course, you never know what you will get when you pick someone with such a limited number of reference points. Eric was very engaged and was happy to work with our schedule and his pricing was extremely reasonable compared to his peers, so I gave him a shot. HE DID AN AMAZING JOB. It was an hour long show and I was surprised that he wanted to come 30 minutes early to set up and prepare considering the reasonable pricing. He had a great outfit that the kids loved. He then did a 30-40 minute show for both the adults and the kids, which engaged everyone. I have never seen these 12 kids (Age 2 - 13) all sit in the same spot mesmerized for that long...
