Hi, my name is Marquita Bernard. I am a Vocalist/Pianist with a vast repertoire of over 1000 Top 40 songs from 1950 to today, covering MANY different genres including Pop, Rock, Soul, Country, Dance, Oldies, Current, Jazz, Broadway, Christmas and more. I am looking to perform as a Solo Act or as a Dueling Pianos act, or possibly as a small group.
I have a powerful voice and flashy sense of style. I always try my best to please the audience with great sound and appropriate music and energy, from a party vibe with comedy, dancing, and singing along, to relaxing and romantic ball ... ads. I provide the audience with song lists and request slips to help them choose songs for me to play and make requests.
Off-stage, in between sets and before and after shows, I always make a point to talk to people in the crowd to find out what they like, what they want, or to just “get to know” them. I love meeting new people and can talk about almost anything.

Biography

I am a Dual U.S./Canadian citizen, who has performed almost 2000 shows in the last 20 years all over the U.S. and in Toronto, Canada. From solo vocal and piano, to dueling pianos, to full bands (fronting and backing) and everything in between, I have done it all. I grew up in a musical family and began my career singing and playing keyboards in a band called "Mother Soul" with my mother and sister. We performed together for almost ten years in Raleigh, NC. Experience

With Mother Soul, I performed 3 to 5 times per week for about 7 years. During the week I performed in duos or trios (piano, guitar, vocals) with my mom and sister, and on the weekends we performed with a full band backing us. We played funk, soul, rock and dance music at bars, cafes, private parties, weddings, festivals, charity events and more.
In 2010 I began working for Rum Runners Dueling Piano Bar in Raleigh, and moved to Michigan to fill a spot in their Lansing Bar. I was there every Thursday through Saturday for about a year.
In 2013 I worked at Monaco Bay Dueling Piano Bar every ... Friday and Saturday night for about 2 and a half years.
For the last two years I have been performing mostly solo acts in West Michigan bars, clubs, private parties, weddings, and festivals, etc. I have an agent who books most of my shows, and I travel to the location with my own sound system. I set up and run my own sound in a variety of locations, and perform for 2 - 4 hours.
