Caroline started singing after graduating from Durham University with a degree in music specialising in composition. Encouraged by her first teacher, Norman Welsby, to pursue a singing career she studied to attain a Postgraduate Diploma in Performance Studies from the University of London. At the same time she was gaining performance experience by singing chorus and small roles with Southgate Opera and Opera Holland Park. She also reached the final stages of Channel 4's Operatunity competition, where she received valuable coaching and advice.
Caroline has received coaching from David Syr ... us, Mary King, Anthony Legge, Donald Maxwell and Steven Maughan and continues her vocal studies with Arwel Treharne Morgan.
Her operatic roles have since included performances as Tosca for Heritage Opera, Fiordiligi (Mozart's Cosi fan Tutte) for Opera UK and Birmingham Chamber Orchestra, Queen of the Night (Mozart's Magic Flute) for British Youth Opera and Surrey Opera, Gilda (cover) and Countess Ceprano (Verdi's Rigoletto) for Heritage Opera, Clorinda (Rossini's La Cenerentola) and Adina (Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore) for Vox Lirika, Adèle (J. Strauss' Die Fledermaus) for Steyning Music Society, Tatyana (Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin) for Birmingham Chamber Orchestra and the Lace Seller (Britten's Death in Venice)
... in the Aldeburgh Festival - a role she went on to perform at the Bregenz Festival in Austria, where she also appeared as the ZDF Director and Airport Officer in Benedict Mason's Playing Away.
A regular concert performer, Caroline has sung in venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Cadogan Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and St John's, Smith Square and has sung in performances featured on BBC Radio 3. She has performed as a soloist in venues across Europe, particular highlights being Brahms' Requiem, Handel's Messiah, Mahler's Symphony No. 4, Mozart's Exsultate Jubilate, Vivaldi's Gloria, Schubert's Magnificat, Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder and Rachmaninov's Vocalise.
As a session singer Caroline has sung with the BBC Singers, RSVP Voices and Conventus in concerts and recordings. She now appears regularly with Darren Clarke as the duo Trovatori.
