Many entertainers have assistants or partners. David does too, but his sidekick is a duck named “Chucky.” Chucky is a puppet that David uses in his shows, including corporate event entertainment. The pair create a show that is great for audiences of all ages. The show is hilarious with their own type of “duck spun” humor. Audience members enjoy the participation element of the corporate event entertainment as it gives them a chance to engage with entertainer and Chucky. David and Chucky have traveled across the world to perform for cruise ships, comedy clubs, and corporate event entert ... ainment. This type of corporate event entertainment will leave audiences with smiles on their faces and fond memories of Chucky the duck.
As a young child growing up in Shreveport, Louisiana, David would spend the
summers with his cousin Mike Simmons on Montgomery, Louisiana. Mike was a few
years older than David but he would always let David tag along when Mike would spend
time with his friends. One particular Friday night trip to a sock hop was a night David
would never forget. It was there that he watched his cousin Mike entertains a group of
kids by talking like a duck. Much to his surprise, because he wanted to "be like Mike",
David realized that he also had the ability to make the duck sounds.
Over the years, ... David used the duck voice to his advantage and became quite good at
enunciating words and getting attention. It didn’t take long for David to realize that he
loved having people laugh at his antics and the duck voice made him different from the
other kids which he also enjoyed.
One of his favorite stories is about his time as a Little League catcher. Whenever his
team needed a big out, he would always talk to the batter in the duck voice and get both
them and the umpire laughing until there was no way the batter could concentrate
enough to get a base hit. All his pitcher had to do was throw the ball over the plate and
the batter was as good as out.
Of course, the duck voice would sometimes get David a trip to the principal’s of?ce
whenever he decided to disrupt the classroom by being the class clown. Although
getting in trouble at school was not his favorite thing to do, David never lost sight of the
fact that he loved to make people laugh. He always dreamed of making a living as a
stand up comic. That dream would come true at the ripe old age of thirty-?ve. When
David shelled out $20 for the little duck puppet in 1981, he had no idea that he'd just
spent the best $20.00 of his life. At the time, David was selling of?ce supplies during
the day and working as a waiter at the Kon Tiki Restaurant in Shreveport during the
evening. The restaurant owner Check Wing Joe, called Chuck by all who knew him, did
not mind that David would bring the little duck puppet to work with him and if someone
was celebrating a birthday, David was more than happy to sing "Happy Birthday" and
entertain the folks with his little puppet.
One night, after performing in the restaurant, someone asked David what was the
puppet's name? The owner, Chuck, was standing a few feet away and when David
was confronted with the question, he looked at his puppet and then looked at Chuck
and quickly announced that the puppet's name was "Chucky". The name stuck and
seemed to ?t the puppet’s developing personality and the comedy team of Chucky and
David Morgan was born.
David would keep Chucky in a nice padded box in the trunk of his car. Whenever the
opportunity presented itself, David was more than happy to bring out Chucky and see
what developed. It did not take long for friends to request Chucky's presence and, with
each appearance, Chucky took on another dimension.
As the relationship between David and Chucky grew, it was obvious that David was able
to say things with Chucky that he would never say himself. The more edgy Chucky
was, the better people like it. The one thing that was so amazing to David was that he
didn’t know where Chucky’s personality came from. In fact, Chucky would often say
things before David even knew they were coming. And that trait still continues today.
Their big break came in 1986 when David, now selling radio advertising for KRMD in
Shreveport, was asked to emcee a new comedy club at the Le Bossier Hotel in Bossier
City, LA. Jodie Stevens, the hotel’s general manager, offered the pair a wonderful opportunity and they gladly took advantage of that offer. For a year and eight months,
Chucky and David honed their craft at "Jodie’s Comedy Club" meeting and watching
touring comics do their shows.
In November of 1987, David stopped by his mother’s house and announced that he
was going to quit his real job and pursue a career as a comedian. His mom was fully
supportive and on December 1, 1987, Chucky and David Morgan made their debut as a
full-time professional comedy team in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania in a Greg Thompson
Production "Fantasy Ice Follies." They were there for six weeks, then invited back for
six more. During that time, they booked a few months in Florida at a group of comedy
clubs beginning after the shows in Valley Forge.
Then in June of 1998, they started their cruise ship career when they worked for Royal
Caribbean on the Sun Viking. They enjoyed the cruise ships, quickly ?lled their
schedule more ship’s shows and have been there ever since. Through Don Casino
Productions in Miami, Chucky and David have worked on ships all around the world.

David and his wife, Sima, have one daughter, Zara, born in June 2003. Dividing their
time between the ships and the corporate market keeps them busy and they love it.
