I can be very versatile and produce a gig set list to cover any event as well as being flexible to change it, depending on what goes down well with the crowd and clientele. I also am well seasoned in musical theater performance being able to bring all aspects of Acting, Singing and Basic dance to the stage. I Have a range of 2 and a half to 3 octaves, from CONTRALTO to SOPRANO.
I would describe my voice as rich, powerful and controlled but I also have the ability to blend harmonies, show lighter and softer tones to contrast. My favorite genre is blues, soul and musical theatre - as these ... are usually belt songs which I am particularly strong at.
I am a big Adele fan and currently have a lot of her most popular work in my set. But am working on getting together a proper tribute act to become the character of Adele as well, rather than just singing her songs .
The foundation for my love of theatre, performing and singing is rooted in my earliest memories, having grown up in a family heavily involved in theatre, live music, acting and directing. While other kids were more interested in dolls and ponies, I spent my time creating my own little shows for my family to enjoy/endure.
As soon as I was old enough I auditioned and joined the junior chorus of a local pantomime, my first lead role as Nancy in Oliver, my schools year six production, was the moment I realised that this, was what I wanted to do with my life. Since then I have enjoyed the learnin ... g experience of being in the ensemble of many shows, including Les Miserables, Bugsy Molone and Joseph. Contently absorbing and learning from the way that lead performers, directors, choreographers and technicians, work and cooperate to create the piece, whilst always thinking how it might be done differently or improved. I have been fortunate enough to have gained a number of lead roles including; Anita-Westside Story, Scaramouch–We Will Rock You, Miss Hannigan–Annie and most recently Mme Thenardier–Les Miserables. I have also taken every opportunity to take additional workshops, in order to gain more experience. Each of these shows, workshops, and lead roles, have reinforced to me that the work of the company is paramount in the success and quality of the piece. It’s not about one stellar performance but rather the commitment of the entire cast to create the best experience for the audience, through attention to every detail.
I currently teach drama singing and dance at a drama academy in Sussex, and have an Agent. I have had call backs for Drama schools such as Bristol Old Vic, Central and GSA and soon have ones for Mountview and East 15 (both in musical Theatre and Acting). I also have had professional work as a Scare Actor at Tully's Farm Shocktober Fest - One of the UK's top scare attraction, and also will be touring Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet as the Nurse including the Brighton Open Air Theatre as one of it's venues.
I have worked with children and young adults for many years and am comfortable with and love working with them. I was a Secondary school Teaching Assistant, specializing in teens with special needs and behavioral and emotional difficulties which has allowed me to understand, empathize negotiate with and manage a wise range of people.
