Tina Mali shows an impressive list of credentials. Right from the start of her music career she has gained a lot of touring experience alongside Joe Cocker and Morten Harket that has nurtured her expressive onstage persona and created a platform for strong musical development of some captivating songs. She was honoured with the Amadeus Music Award as singer in a pop group and gained, as part of the team, the St.Tropez Film Award for one of her songs she wrote for Salome.
Tina’s sound can be likened to Lana del Rey and Kate Bush – blending pop hooks with a dynamic vocal delivery which se ... emingly moves the earth under your feet. With an impressive four octave range Tina has the ability to sing almost anything and yet her musicianship allows her tastefully to tailor her sound to something which is accessible to all.
Her most recent EP Moving Closer is rich in rhythm, dynamic vocals, cinematic strings and earthy drums. Tina’s image is crafted to compliment this powerful collection of songs and sounds that can be described as filmic. Her lyrics are thoughtful and sometimes elegantly provocative.
An extraordinary artist and singer-songwriter, Tina Mali is one not to be missed.
About the songs Tina Mali writes:
Tina creates atmospheric soundscapes that invite her listeners to explore fantastical new worlds. Her cinematic instrumentalisation encourages childlike curiosity, whilst her lyrics are thought provoking, tugging at our consciousness to reflect upon and take responsibility for the patterns and prejudices that prevent us from discovering the magic that might be possible. Tina’s voice is similarly ethereal and commanding, combining her dynamic use of range with rich, bewitching tone.
‘Tina Mali has an amazing voice that embodies influences from Kate Bush, Bjork and Enya, and her musical backdrop juxtaposes Chinese, Indian and conventional instruments on her debut album Roots in a Torrent, alongside modern bleeps and loops that stamp her work with true individuality.
Don’t Be Afraid Dad takes Enya into the third millennium, Mali’s extraordinary multi-tracked voice swooping above a bewitching soundscape. Amaniaca has a more eastern feel to it, plus sinister heavy strings and thumping drums that add a dark intensity under her rich vocal. Superb stuff that deserves an international market.’ by Jackie Hayden from HotPress
‘Very interesting songs, elegantly made and fantastically produced’ by R. Schilhart from Radio FM4
‘Tina’s voice is beautiful’ Chez Philippe promoter and owner of FSN Bar Kyoto, Japan
‘Tina Mali has what only 5 percent of all singers out there have: true artistry and her own melodic style’ Guy Fletcher, PRS UK
