Biography

Dave Jones was born in 1948, in Palo Alto, California. His parents (Robert T. Jones and Doris C. Jones) were scientists who worked for NASA, and together they did the pioneering work that led to the swept-back wing design that makes jet travel possible. Both parents had a passionate love of classical music, and his two sisters became classical musicians, but Dave got hooked on blues and jazz in his teens. He went to Berklee School of Music and started playing in bands in his twenties, up and down the East Coast. In his thirties and 40s he pursued other interests, including painting and te ... aching art. He never stopped practicing jazz saxophone, however. When his wife was called as an Episcopal priest to serve a church in Greenville, MS, he began to play as a solo artist in restaurants, clubs and private parties in the Mississippi Delta. He now lives and plays on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where there are many, many venues for live music!
