Biography

Born in Athens into a musical family, Nikolaos Beis first learned to play the violin when he was six. He studied at the Manhattan school of Music in New York with Lucie Robert, where he graduated with a Bachelor Degree and holds a Masters degree from Zürcher Hochschule der Künste where he studied with Rudolf Koelman.
Nikolaos Beis is the recipient of I.K.Y ( Greek State Scholarship)and the Ismene Karter Scholarship offered from the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation in Athens, from both of which he was awarded 1st prize. He was also awarded 1st Prize in the Greek National competition an ... d the Yamaha Foundation Scholarship. His first solo debut was in 2002 at the age of 13 where he performed the Mendelssohn violin Concerto with the “Soloists of Patras” under the baton of Saulius Sondeckis. He has appeared since then as a soloist and recitalist in Greece, Italy, U.S.A, Netherlands, France and Switzerland in major concert venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York.
Nikolaos has also studied with great artists such as: Leonidas Kavakos, Pierre Amoyal, Boris Belkin, Grigori Zhislin, Gordan Nikolic, Igor Gruppman, Sergey Kravchenko, Taras Gabora.
Nikolaos is performing on a modern Violin made in 2007 in Cremona Italy, kindly sponsored by Susanne Walser.

From first note to last, the Artist demonstrated uncommon brilliance and temperament in musicianship. A lean, penetrating tone that seemed capable of countless gradations of nuance; a quick, intense vibrato; leaping slides, strategically placed; a cutting spiccato and unique dynamic level so that, taken as a whole, any one phrase was infinitely varied.
