I can play piano, bass and sing in many different styles such as classical, jazz, pop, musicals, etc. to suit the atmosphere of the event/venue. I am versatile and have worked with many musicians in the past. I work extensively with my husband in a duo (piano/double bass) in various settings.

Biography

South Korean pianist, Yohan Chun, lives and performs as a soloist, chamber musician, collaborator and an accompanist in Cape Town. She completed her BMus Honours degree at South African College of Music, University of Cape Town, under the guidance of esteemed pianist, François du Toit.
She has achieved great success at prestigious national music competitions including winning the Fine Music Radio Bursary Competition 2016 and Grahamstown National Music Competition 2018. Other highlights include collaborating as a guest artist with Cape Town City Ballet and representing UCT at the Stellenb ... osch International Chamber Music Festival. In 2017, she was given a full scholarship to participate and play at a piano festival in Germany and has toured internationally with the musical, "The Sound of Music". She often works with UCT and Cape Town Opera for their various projects including “Così fan tutte” in 2020 , “La Bohème” in 2021 and “Sara Baartman” in 2022. Furthermore, she has appeared as an ad hoc member of Cape Town and KZN Philharmonic Orchestras as a percussionist and an orchestral pianist.
Yohan has appeared in prominent concert venues such as Cape Town City Hall, Artscape Theatre and Opera House, Casa Labia, Endler Hall and at the Baxter Hall where she performed as a soloist with orchestra under the baton of Richard Cock. She also performs regularly in festivals such as Fynarts, Woordfees, National Arts Festival and Jazz and Classical Encounters at Spier.
Besides classical piano, her interests lie in jazz, musical, pop as well as singing and playing the bass guitar. A few of the venues where she has performed include One & Only Hotel, La Motte, The Piano Bar in Cape Town, Old Mac Daddy, Kelvin Grove, Newlands Cricket Club, Ex Nihilo, Lourensford and Erinvale.
