Description

Notes on equipment and costuming:
- Aerial Silks: aerialist will bring silks and will provide her own costuming and makeup that suits the theme of the event.
- Performance area/stage: limited options of rugs/mats, lights, and other decorations can be provided upon request. Clients are welcome to provide their own decoration for the aerial performance areas, however, these must be discussed with the aerialist prior to the event.
- Rig: A free standing quad rig can be provided on request for an additional fee. Please see the last section on rigging, travel, and additional expenses for more ... info on quad rig rental.
Booking Options (prices DO NOT include rig rental or travel):
1) Show Stopper Performance: $350 for first set*, +$200 for each additional set
This option is for clients who want to provide their guests with a performance worth stopping the show for! Wow your guests with a 5-7 minute, choreographed aerial silks set to one or two songs approved/selected to suit your event. Show stopper performances are a fantastic option for birthday parties, weddings, graduations, and more!
Music will need to be decided on in advance, allowing for enough time to choreograph a routine that suits the character and theme of your event.
*If only one show stopper performance is booked, the artist will be working on site for four hours maximum. This includes arrival 2 hours before showtime to set up and warm up and 1 hour post-show for de-rigging. It is up to the client to ensure all components of the aerial performance (including set up, warm up, and tear down) can fit within this window. Each additional performance booked will increase this time frame by 1 hour.
2) Ambient Performance: $500 for a single, one-hour set*, +$250 for each additional hour
Ambient aerial silks brings art in motion to your event! This option includes one hour of aerial silks, which can be broken into two half hour sets or be done as a one hour set. Within this time frame, the aerialist will take breaks as needed between ambient movement sets. For example, if the artist is performing to a live band or DJ’d music, the artist will alternate one song on, one song off, or two songs on, two songs off, depending on style of music and length of songs.
This is an excellent option for clients who would like aerial silks as an ongoing compliment to other activities, such as socializing, musical performances, cocktail hours, and festivals.
*If only one ambient set is booked, the artist will be working on site for five hours maximum. This includes arrival 2 hours before showtime to set up and warm up and 1 hour post-show for de-rigging. This is regardless of whether or not clients want a 1 hour set or two ½ hour sets. It is up to the client to ensure all components of the aerial performance (including set up, warm up, and tear down) can fit within this window. Each additional hour booked will increase this time frame by 1 hour.
3) The Full Experience: $750*
This option is for clients who want it all! The Full Performance Experience provides clients with one show stopping aerial silks routine and one hour of ambient aerial silks. Please see the above descriptions for more information on these two styles of performance. Note that clients may still book additional ambient or show stopper sets for the additional cost stipulated above.
*For a Full Performance Experience, artist will be working on site for six hours maximum. This includes arrival 2 hours before showtime to set up and warm up and 1 hour post-show for de-rigging. This is regardless of whether or not clients want a 1 hour ambient set or two ½ hour ambient sets. It is up to the client to ensure all components of the aerial performance (including set up, warm up, and tear down) can fit within this window. Each additional set (ambient or show stopper) booked will increase this time frame by 1 hour.
Travel, Rigging, Safety:
Travel: $50 minimum
Additional fees for travel will be calculated based on event location. There is a minimum of $50 travel cost. Otherwise, travel will be calculated based on the state of Virginia mile reimbursement rate, which is $0.65 per mile.
Rigging and Safety: $0-350
There are many options for rigging aerial silks depending on the venue. There are three rigging packages available:
1. The client provides all professional rigging services and safety for performances ($0)
o This must be communicated to performer well in advance if the client wants to go with this option.
o Riggers provided by venue/client must have professional training and knowledge of rigging aerial apparatuses.
o There must be an individual (it can be the rigger or another individual) to act as ‘safety.’ They must supervise all performances. Safety will be the designated person to get emergency medical assistance if necessary. Safety person must also be available to help off of a ladder in the unlikely event that the artist or silks get tangled. Safety is also responsible for ensuring no audience members come near the rig or silks at any point, regardless of whether the aerialist is actively performing.
2. The venue has a structurally sound rig point (often stages work best) and aerialist needs to bring a +1 for rigging and safety ($200)
3. The aerialist provides a free standing quad rig and a +1 for set up and safety ($350)
Multi-day booking: $150 overnight fee (per night) and camping or hotel room provided for all nights on site.
We know that, sometimes, the moment calls for a weekend (or multi-day) event! If you would like to book aerial performances over the span of two+ days, there will be a flat $150 overnight fee, per night, applied to total cost. For each day of the event, artist will not exceed the working hours stipulated in each performance offering above.
Wait Fee: $150 per hour
If a client fails to work within the time frames provided in description for their booked act, they will be charged an additional $150 fee for every additional hour the artist must wait beyond the stipulated time frame.

Biography

Hello! My name is Reed, or Aranea 🕸️
I am a professional aerialist with a wide range of performance experience- from small intimate events, to Galas and Fundraisers, to music festivals, and (sometimes) to locations that take me 700 feet off the ground🤭! I love being outdoors and will jump at any chance to do silks outside. I think there is something so magical about incorporating natural elements into my own movement on the silks.
Aerial silks has been the core of my movement practices for over a decade, and I'm so excited to work with you to bring your vision to life.

Experience

I have performed in a wide variety of conditions and at a wide range of events.
I started off my performance career (2013-2016) as the sole aerialist at the Circus of the Dark Moon, which was an annual fundraising event held at the Wilson Castle in Proctor, Vermont.
My career really took off when I moved to Blacksburg, Virginia and started performing in the southeastern United States with Fluidity Performance in 2022. While I do aerials professionally, I also have a PhD and teach college level courses in Political Science. Clearly I enjoy using my brain as much as my body 🤗 I spend most of my free time reading (I LOVE fiction- all recommendations are welcome!), writing, cuddling with my cat Conway, or doing anything outdoors!
I have a creative streak and enjoy collaborating with other artists or creatives to bring our visions to life!
