Description

The music of Beskydy has its roots in the dance rhythms and songs of Moravia, Bohemia and Slovakia, through whose lands the Beskydy mountains run – hence the name. They have expanded their repertoire to embrace the music of the Hungarian plains, the Danube basin and all the way down to the Black Sea, the souks and coffee-houses of Istanbul and across the sea to the bordellos of Odessa.

Biography

Beskydy have performed at The Purcell Room, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank, at Harrow Arts Centre and have played several Ignite Series concerts at the Cafe Consort, The Royal Albert Hall, and have enjoyed providing Foyer Music at The National Theatre and The Royal Festival Hall.

The depth of feeling in their performance – by turns joyous and poignant – lifted every scene and added immeasurably to the impact of the show. "Beskyd Band’s performance at the Cambridge Botanic Gardens Summer Festival as part of Cambridge Summer Music on 16 July 2025 was nothing short of unforgettable. They drew the largest crowd of the entire festival, with over 1,500 people gathered on the lawns. Within moments, more than half the audience were up on their feet, dancing with infectious energy to the band’s vibrant rhythms. Their blend of musicianship and joyful stage presence turned the gardens into a living celebration, leaving an extraordinary impression on everyone present. A highlight of the summer."
