I can provide hours of live background music for nearly any type of gathering, from private parties to corporate events. I can also do stage concerts featuring my original songs and the stories that accompany them. Whatever a client needs in the way of a singer/guitarist, I am capable of meeting those needs.

Biography

Craig Mecham has spent more than five decades playing and performing on stages in England and throughout the US. Early in his musical career, his band "The Family Album" did an extended tour of England, doing 350 shows in 13 months. He has performed for British Royalty, the Mayor of London, Chiefs of Staff Committee of British Armed Forces, various elected officials, religious leaders, and countless 4th graders.

He recently took 2nd place at the annual KSM Songwriters’ Contest and has been a two-time finalist at the prestigious Red Lodge Songwriters’ Festival. He was nominated for the HUGS 24/7 Radio Male Artist of the Year in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. And is a 2025 ISSA nominee for Entertainer of the Year, Vocalist of the Year, Rising Star, Songwriter of the Year, and Emerging Artist. His songwriting features solo acoustic guitar instrumentals as well as lighthearted and humorous tales of growing up, along with serious slice-of-life ballads.
His song “Driving Through Montana” accumulated nearly 66,000 spins on small market radio during the summer and fall of 2019 and reached #8 on Nashville’s New Music Weekly chart and also #8 on the Country Indie Music chart. His songs “Ain’t No Quit”, and “Don’t Chain Me” both spent multiple weeks at #1 on the HUGS 24/7 Radio Unsigned Artist Top 100 Chart. His song "Just Play Our Songs" spent 54 weeks on the HUGS Chart while his song “Somewhere in the World” spent 28 weeks on the same chart. Experience

I have performed in venues as diverse as smoky bars and Christian chapels, for audiences as small as 6-8 people or as large as 10,000. I have performed small house concerts as well as at the base of Lord Nelson's statue in Trafalgar Square with 10,000 people in the square.

I have been in one band or another consistently since I was 14. I have been on stage probably more than 1,000 times, either as a band member or as a solo act. I briefly stepped away from the spotlight to raise six children and build a business with my wife, but the music never left. Now I'm back.

Additional Information

I have all my own equipment, including a 400-watt Mackie Showbox, and can accommodate indoor or outdoor venues with audiences as large as 500. I typically bring 2 acoustic guitars to a gig, but, depending on the type of gig, I have been known to bring as many as 4 featuring various custom tunings. I am one of the few singers today who perform on a "harp guitar". This instrument was popular in the early 1900s but was reintroduced to audiences through the brilliant playing of Michael Hedges back in the 90s. It's a curious combination of a harp and a guitar.
