I saw Dirty Trick at (Live Wire) in Athens, Ga. I’ll admit I didn’t really know what to expect from a Cheap Trick Tribute Band from a group with a female lead vocalist, and a show that was designed around not one - but two completely different lineups. Any reservations were erased by the end of the final encore. Dirty Trick: The Cheap Trick experience was just that - a fresh take on the tribute band model that left me with a renewed appreciation of the music of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame band. Whether blasting through high energy versions of the radio hits of the 70s and 80s (Surrender, Ain’t That a Shame, I Want To Want Me, Dream Police), or digging into some deeper cuts (On Top of the World, California Man) the showmanship was incredible! One of the most seductive versions of Heaven Tonight you can imagine… I’ll definitely be returning to see what Dirty Trick has in store next! P Daigle Wednesday April 12 2023
