James has given performances in various venues including Halifax Minster, Ripon Cathedral, Mansion House (London), The Adelphi, Rudding Park, The Bar Convent (York).
James has performed classical works such as Beethoven’s Pathetique Sonata alongside works by Chopin, Debussy, Rachmaninov to name a few. I enjoy playing a wide range of music from works by Oscar Peterson to many pop classics such as Elton John, Billy Joel and works by many more contemporary musicians. Furthermore I have accompanied, on the piano, show productions such as Guys and Dolls, Les Misérables and Smike in which the ... composer Simon May attended.
James is a highly competent at sight reading classical, contemporary, modern and jazz. Which I feel is a huge bonus for this role. I have been involved in the rhythm section of Jazz and swing bands for the past five years. Within bands I have played keyboard performing works by Nat King Cole. I find sight reading one of the most enjoyable aspect of performing on the piano as it introduces one to new genres and artists.
Recently he has been doing free-lance work, often playing for Weddings, a recent one being at the exclusive hotel Rudding Park in North Yorkshire.
Alongside Piano performance I also sing, initially classically trained I have performed a number of songs and works. I have a ABRSM Grade 8 distinction in singing, demonstrating I can sing a number of genres but also highly competent at sight singing.

Biography

I have been involved in music from a young age, initially as Head Chorister at Ripon Cathedral, which motivated me to study piano and organ further. Since then I have performed the piano across the UK, notably in 2012 I performed at Mansion House, London for the Lord Mayor of London and many other distinguished guests. Since then I have performed for many different events weddings, drink receptions and may other events.
