Description

I am a classically trained opera singer. Wherever you need classical singing, I can be there. I am a young mezzo-soprano, though I happily sing soprano repertoire. Just let me know what kind of thing you’d like and I can offer suggestions or you are welcome to make requests and I will do my best to accommodate them.
I can offer sets for anything between 1 song to an hour long performance (with a short 5-10 minute break in the middle) I could do a maximum of two separate hour-long sets in one day but there would need to be several hours in between.
The sets can include classical songs, ... opera arias, classic musical theatre (eg. Rogers & Hammerstein, Bernstein, Gershwin, Les Mis would also be possible, etc), Gilbert & Sullivan, cabaret songs (eg. Tom Lehrer, Flanders & Swan, Heisler & Goldrich etc), some pop music (will depend on the song), Edith Piaf and Vera Lynn style songs are also welcome. I can also do poetry or prose. These are just ideas, I will always do my best to cater to exactly what you want. I can offer suggested lists for specific events such as ‘Wedding set list suggestions’ and you would be welcome to approve or veto or swap anything.
My minimum fee is negotiable, particularly if your event is within London but £500 minimum will cover travel*, dry cleaning, food**, practice time and performance time.
*Travel up to 20 Miles / 30 KM. After which, additional fees will incur.
**If you are hosting an event that has food please either provide me a portion or let me know in advance if that will not be possible.
For some events, I will need a private room/space to get ready in/use as a green room.
A piano and pianist will need to be hired separately. I can find a pianist for you if necessary. I don’t use microphones when I sing just because that is the way classical singing is done so if you would like microphones or a sound system, that will also have to be found separately to me.

Biography

Lucy Thalange is a vibrant mezzo-soprano with a passion for opera and history. Her specialities are coloratura and patter music (with her favourites being Rossini and Poulenc!) Having completed her BMus and MA at the Royal Academy of Music Lucy has been enjoying sharing her love of music with as many people as possible!

Experience

Most recently, Lucy has completed her second production of Carmen as the eponymous diva. This was with Bath Opera, her previous production was with London-based Opera Integra. Her performances as Carmen were reviewed as ‘a fearless force of nature.’
Lucy’s interests collided when she joined Saluzzo Opera Academy and conquered the role of Giulio Cesare in Handel’s opera of the same name. She has also been on a tour around France and the UK with Diva Opera’s production of La Traviata.
Lucy’s strong background in choral singing has opened many doors into opera chorus positions. ... These have included Ravel’s L’enfant et le Sortileges, Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra, Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta and Mazeppa, amongst others.
In 2022 a new opera: When the Sky Cracks Open by George Parris was written with Lucy’s voice in mind as a leading role of The Archaeologist. This opera was then debuted at the Tête-à-tête Opera Festival in 2023.

Meet the Act

When Lucy is not singing, she can be found on a spin bike or knitting a colourful jumper! As a child she was obsessed with Frank Sinatra and Barbara Streisand, learning to sing by copying them. Then, at school, Lucy was involved in school choirs, the cathedral choir and National Youth Choir of Great Britain. She also plays the violin and piano (though only for fun).
