Biography

TC.KYLIE x The Hourglass blends jazz, gaming music, and cultural influences from Hong Kong, Japan, and the UK. Kylie captivates with electrifying performances, mastering the keyboard and synth keytar—iconic in Japanese jazz rock. Inspired by Shaun Martin and Robert Glasper, she explores Japanese acid jazz, drawing from Fox Capture Plan, Jabberloop, Toconoma, Jizue, and Bohemianvoodoo, while infusing gaming-inspired compositions reminiscent of Sega and Nintendo classics.
Previously a news documentary journalist in Hong Kong, Kylie brought human stories to life within politically charged la ... ndscapes. Her track “30% Soaked,” mixed by Golden Melody Award-winning producer 陳君豪 (Howe), was officially selected for the 2023 Toronto International Music Video Festival. Another single, “My Last Grief,” was shortlisted in the 2022 Japan Indies Music Awards. Leading her band 初久 (choku), she earned back-to-back Tone Music Award nominations, placing in both Top 10 Hits and Annual Music Video Awards.
Kylie headlined the EFG London Jazz Festival and supported Butcher Brown and Casey Abrams at sold-out Jazz Café shows. Her debut instrumental album, recorded at Abbey Road Studios and Lightship 95, features a reimagined “Merry-Go-Round of Life” by Joe Hisaishi and was released on limited-edition coloured vinyl to international acclaim. In 2025, the group performed at Hyper Japan Festival, Hanwell Hootie, PizzaExpress Live in London, with her Asia tour headlining in Taipei Vinyl Decision, and Tainan J House.
