Biography

Bianju Morris (born June 29th, 1994), known professionally as Zikki, is an eccentric Kenyan singer, songwriter, band leader, producer, reggae DJ, humanitarian, and performing artist based in Nairobi. The name Zikki arose from the Swahili word 'muziki', which means music. His genres of music are Afro-pop, R&B, Reggae, dancehall, and Afro-jazz rhythms. He grew up in a household with four siblings, one sister and three brothers. His mother is a Pentecostal pastor, and his late father was a policeman who practiced the traditional Gikuyu way of worship. Zikki attended Saint Thomas Academy in Othaya ... and later went to Kaheti Boys High School. He began writing music at the age of 10 and recorded his first song at the age of 13. His dad would later expose him to different sounds from Bob Marley and Joseph Kamaru, a Kenyan Benga, gospel musician, and political activist who was an icon, a hero, and a leading Kikuyu musician. He would continue his passion for music through high school and would also sing in the church choir during school holidays, which boosted his confidence as a singer.
He rose to the limelight after the release of the record "Take it Slow" featuring Jaguar, a Kenyan musician turned politician, on November 20, 2015, which peaked at number one on the Kenyan Charts with over 6 million streams for two years consecutively. In 2016, he performed at the FETE DE LA MUSIQUE at the Alliance Française, which is World Music Day in France. He was also part of the Sarabi BGVs during the Kings of the Arena concert series and also played at the Alliance Française's different open mics.

Also performed at The Godown Gig for three years consecutively till 2017- 2019. He also performed at Koch Fest on August 14th, 2016. And at the Pawa Festival for two consecutive years in 2015 and 2016, respectively.

On June 29, 2017, he released his single 'Adhiambo' with Timmy Tdat, which was inspired by the Ohangla sound.

This was followed by the collaboration with renowned Jamaican Reggae star Tarrus Riley on the song "Kamata" in 2018, which was heavily influenced by afro-dancehall and reggaeton produced by Grammy award nominee producer Shane Brown of Jukeboxx, Dean Fraser, and Kenya's number-one producer SoFresh of Navid Production.

This was followed by a tour of Tarrus Riley in September 2018 that was held at the KICC grounds, where he invited Zikki on stage during his performance, backed by Dean Fraser and the Blacksoil Band.

On June 3, 2020, he teamed up with Sinky Beats, a producer from Spain, and released 'Swahili Reggae' singing about endurance during the COVID pandemic.

And on August 19, 2021, he collaborated with Zj Heno to release 'Love Jah' as a protest against police brutality, which picked up in the top 40 reggae countdown in Kenya.

In September 2021, iconic Reggae producer Silkki Wonda released 'It's Okay' a song he had recorded with him during his 2021 trip to Jamaica. It was recorded at Pearl Studios in Kingston 2, Jamaica. It was released under Reggaeville.

In 2022, he got featured in Eesah's album 'Timeless', the song titled 'Seed Yuh Plant. Singing about positivity in the minds of the youth.

'Toxic Lover' produced by Kenyan producer Nickson of Mega Records, was released on March 18th, 2022, and the song received a lot of love from Senegal.

Having played with my band for 9 years I have learned how to manage my band being a five piece band which is perfect for travel. I put my clients first.
