Astrid is a classically trained cellist with a repertoire spanning many centuries and genres. A passionate performer, she has excellent sight reading skills and vast experience in different formations, ranging from solo to various chamber music ensembles and orchestra.
She is easygoing and a team player, she will perfectly blend in with the atmosphere of the venue. If requested, she is able to assist the client with choosing suitable music for the occasion. She is punctual and well organized.

Biography

Astrid Reijnders (1998) started playing the cello when she was twelve years old, having played the recorder for five years. At fifteen she was admitted to the ‘School for Young Talent’ at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. In 2021 she obtained her bachelor’s degree at the conservatory in Rotterdam (Codarts) with Jeroen den Herder and Joachim Eijlander, after which she took lessons with the French cellist Sébastien Hurtaud for a year. She finished her masters cum laude with Jeroen Reuling at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel in 2025.
Astrid immensely enjoys playing with others. ... She has been a member of youth orchestras from an early age, among which the Atheneum Kamerorkest conducted by Arjan Tien. Besides, she has played in many chamber music ensembles over the years. She forms a duo with guitarist Samuel Rosado Rived. She is also a member of the Régence Quartet, consisting of musicians who met during their master studies at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel.
Besides her classical education Astrid is interested in a wide variety of music styles. She was a member of the NJJO (National Youth Jazz Orchestra) for two years. During her master studies she immersed herself in contemporary music. She played in performances of pieces from amongst others Ligeti and Boulez and worked with several composers on the first performances of their compositions. In recent years she has also become increasingly involved with theater. Her first experience with that world was with the musical Little Women, after which Willem en Frieda and Brel – de musical followed.
Astrid plays a cello made by Guust François on loan from the collection of The Netherlands Musical Instrument Foundation.

Experience

Astrid has been performing from a young age. In classical music she has experience in many formations: solo, duo, piano trio, string quartet, piano quintet and string sextet as well as orchestras. A notable occasion was a performance with a horn quintet in the Peace Palace for the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
During her studies she was a member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of the Netherlands. This is where she discovered what it’s like to tour, playing the same music in different cities and perfecting your set. Her time at th ... is jazz orchestra opened the door to other genres of music as well, including tango, pop and contemporary music.
Since graduating Astrid has been part of musical ensembles of multiple theatre shows, both in residence at a theater and on tour. Besides, she regularly plays at weddings and other private events as well as studio sessions, both in Brussels and in the Netherlands.
