- I offer a professional experience in live performance on piano predominantly as a musical director.
- I have over 15 years experience in live performance on television, corporate functions, year end functions, weddings, parties, restaurants, tours and artist/celebrity performances.
- In addition to the piano, I also play the bass guitar, acoustic and electric rhythm guitar.
- I offer production as well, which accompanied with mixing for studio based projects.

Biography
BACK THEN
Chadwin Alexander was born in Johannesburg on the
27th of February 1984. Inspired by local and international acts such as
Take 6 and Fourplay, Chad gained an early interest in music. His teenage years were composed of
classical piano playing as well as school band performances. Along with these activities, Chad developed his vocal abilities through his school choir, making him the ultimate triple threat of pianist,
guitarist and vocalist, all before graduating in 2001.
“In Barnato Park High school I played classical music, consisting majorly of Beethoven and Mozart, with
... my maths and science teacher Mr McKenzie, whom I begged for months. He was a modern day Einstein
and virtuoso on the piano”.
It was Chads’ post high school career that would see a journey of indecisiveness for the following
few years. The young talent embarked upon NGO work at The Takalani Children’s Home in Diepkloof Soweto, as an Audio Stimulator and an Assistant Arts and Culture teacher, helping disabled,
abused and mentally challenged kids smile in the face of adversity and fight and cope with their
disabilities.
“…I also assisted in getting them ready for performances to help raise funds at the Sandton Convention
Centre. At the end of that year, 2002, a disabled child, got to know what it feels like to dance for the very
first time. I’ll never forget that day.”
After a year of studying Industrial Psychology, Chads true desire pronounced itself in the form of
studying Contemporary Music at Damelin, securing his career and love for music very prominently.
Here, Chad would make a name for himself and make the necessary relationships to certify his
place in the music industry.

Santos, Graeme Currie, Sheldon Leal and Tebogo Moloto (partner at JazzWorx).”
FAST FORWARD
Chad and RJ Benjamin became close friends and very soon Chad was his right hand man on live performances and recordings. They soon formed a production team who has produced three albums
together; Naima Mclean a poet and aspiring singer, Liz Ogumbo a former Kenyan super model now
based in SA and Jarrid John, a young undiscovered artist. He was also the Assistant Musical
Director to RJ on Mzansi Magic’s SAFTA 2015 Award Winning TV Show, ‘Clash Of The Choirs SA’
seasons 1 - 3.
It wouldn’t be too long before the industry’s who’s-who started to notice this gifted young musician. Evidently so when the producers of
Callback Dreams approached him to be their Musical Director of the
now highly successful television show, ‘Stripped Down’ seasons 1 & 2
on Channel O & Vuzu. Immediately thereafter he was scooped up by
BornForThis Media as Musical Director on Mzansi Magic’s ‘Soul Sessions’ season 1.
He was then approached by Don’t Look Down Productions to Musically
Direct their ‘Sessions for ’76’ feature celebrating the legends of yester-
year such as Blondie and many more.
Callback Dreams once again summoned Chad’s expertise for the first
Hip-Hop Reality Talent Search; ‘The Hustle’ on Channel O. Chad is also
a regular Musical Director on the Afro Café music specials.
A recent highlight for Chad was when he performed for and met the
cast of the critically acclaimed Empire tv series on their SA tour in 2016.
Now a decade in the industry, Chad has performed on South Africa’s most prestigious stages and
worked alongside its biggest musical acts. A true musician to the core, he continues to produce,
perform and promote music in ways many are incapable of. Whether musically directing live performances, or arranging music for the best, Chadwin Alexander is a true child of Mzansi and a
prominent representative of South Africa’s vibrant music culture and industry.

I was once casted for a role in an internationally acclaimed movie with Adam Sandler, Drew Barrymoore and Terry Crews called Blended- shot in South Africa. I played a role as a musician in a hotel in Africa, where two American families come for vacation.
Meet the Act
I didn't always know that I was going to become a musician back then... I used to be an avid painter and sportsman. I loved animals and thought I would go in the study and conservation of animals or become a professional sportsman, but when music slowly crept onto the scene, it was a calling I could no longer ignore or deny. It took over everything and all of me...all at once. Music is not something i do, music is intrinsically who I am and it has encompassed the man I have since matured into.

... hen I eventually pursued music scholastically, I then discovered a love for live studio recordings and production and all it comes with. I am someone who loves working with people and helping them fulfil and realise their dreams, potential, goals and visions. Even though l am energised by working with people or being in the company of up and coming musicians, I enjoy my private time in my home or away on vacation in a quiet destination filled with nature with my wife and our dog Baxter, he is a Labrador Retriever.
I am a deeply spiritual person and I find joy in serving people in anyway I can.
A few hobbies I've picked up over the years are playing tennis, padel, cricket, golf and squash and going on hikes.
Passion is the one word that perfectly describes who I am and why I love what I do some much... without passion, whats the point!?
