Damian Soul is one of the most talented musicians in East Africa, who performs a variety of musical styles to create a fusion of its own kind.
As live musician he credits his church upbringing, cultured neighborhood (Sinza) he grew up in, local stars he used to admire (Saigon, Pappy Kocha, Banana Zorro), international acts (Mori Kante, Yvonne Chakachaka, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson) and others, being his major inspirations. His development was also influenced by music icon, Remy Ongala (R.I.P) whom instilled in him the passion for performing. "He was like our Godfather, we would stay at hi ... s house all day watch him play his guitar" Damian recalls.
For years now, Damian has been gracing the East African airwaves with his soulful vocals, and has managed to birth a string of hits. His breakthrough in the mainstream came with the release of song "Hakuna Matata", followed up by "Ni Penzi ft. Joh Makini", which was nominated as the Best R&B song of the year at the 2015 Kili Tanzania Music Awards. It was the same year that Damian was also a finalist in the 2015 Maisha Super Star Show, an East Africa wide talent search competition held in Nairobi, Kenya. Such achievements cemented his spot as a household name, and birthed a career & brand that he is today.
Other hits includes "Tudumishe ft. G-Nako", "Kaumba ft. Vanessa Mdee", "Data ft. Nikki wa Pili & Quickrocka" and most recent "Fire Fire".
Damian uses his music to spread love and positivity, and to inspire those who listen to him. He is a seasoned performer with numerous Festivals, private and Diplomatic shows.. Over the years, he's managed to share the stage with the likes of Salif Keita, Papa Wemba, Joh Makini, Fid Q, Grace Matata, The Core, Wakwetu Jazz, and others.
Being a live music enthusiast, Damian has an upcoming project called Ngoma Live, which is focusing on spotlighting the Live Elements of music, giving a platform to top musicians as well as upcoming young performers. He is currently in the studio working on a new album (Nothing But Love), slated to drop late in year 2020.
