Daylin Sass is a versatile singer, songwriter, and entertainer who has quickly become a
force to be reckoned with in South Africa’s music industry. Born and raised in Hanover
Park, Cape Town, this 26-year-old talent embarked on his musical journey within the
nurturing environment of the New Apostolic Church, where his passion for music
blossomed. His early exposure to music theory and choral singing laid a solid
foundation that would propel him to new heights.
His formal musical education began at Wynberg High School, where Daylin excelled,
earning top honors in both Music Theory and ... Practical exams for five consecutive
years. It was here that Daylin honed his craft, participating in various school
productions and performing in prestigious events such as the Focus School’s Jazz
Festival. It was at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival in 2015, as a vocalist for
The All-Star Band, where Daylin’s raw talent first captured the public’s attention with
his mesmerizing rendition of Vusi Nova's Rather Go Blind. This moment served as the
catalyst for what would become an illustrious career.
Daylin’s artistry is defined by his exceptional versatility, seamlessly blending genres like
neo-soul, jazz, dance-pop, club jazz, and gospel. His innovative sound, coupled with his
commanding stage presence, has made him a sought-after collaborator for some of
South Africa’s finest artists, including Salome, Robin Pieters, Karin Kortje, Jarrad
Ricketts, Sammy Webber, and many more. In addition to his solo work, Daylin has lent
his voice as a backing vocalist to a host of renowned performers, further showcasing
his vocal dexterity.
His competitive spirit and undeniable talent saw him shine on South Africa's most
prominent music stages. In 2020, Daylin became a household name when he secured a
Top 3 spot on Maak My Famous Season 2. The following year, he made his mark yet
again by placing in the Top 5 on Idols SA Season 17. These high-profile competitions
served as a launchpad, shaping his career and broadening his audience, while pushing him to produce and perform in his own sold-out shows—establishing him as a force in
the local music scene.
Beyond competitions, one of Daylin’s most standout achievements was his critically
acclaimed performance in Cinderella & Frikadella, a musical that ran for six weeks at
the iconic Roxy Revue Bar at GrandWest in 2020. Playing the role of Frika, one of
Cinderella's stepsisters, Daylin displayed his theatrical prowess, adding yet another
layer to his multi-faceted career.
With an ever-growing repertoire and a reputation for electrifying performances, Daylin
