Description

Asylum is a 4 minute theatrical circus piece in static trapeze. It is a dark piece about an unhealthy mental state that we all find ourselves in at one point or another.
I also perform in/with aerial sling, stilts, and palm torches and can create acts fitting to almost any theme.

Biography

Diego Serna is an Atlanta based performer from Guadalajara, Mexico. From a very early age he showed interest in performing and visual arts. At the age of 12 he was granted the opportunity to become a member of Young Voices United.
In a total of seven years, Diego received theatrical training from Nic Starr (Young Voices United) and Nikki Toombs (Toombstone Productions). Through these years he earned various roles such as Chicago in “Is he Dead?”, Lumiere in “Beauty and the Beast”, and Mr. Lindner in both Young Voices United and Nikki Toombs’ rendition of “A Raisin in the Sun” ... . His talents also earned him the role of Genie in “Las Mil y una Noches” with Latin theatrical company, Teatro Interludio.
At the age of eighteen Diego found a sudden interest for aerial arts. With no knowledge on how to get started, he purchased a silk and began learning from videos off of YouTube (not to be tried at home!) He analyzed every move and practiced them in his backyard. A little less than a year of training, Diego received the honor of performing an aerial opening act for Mexican comedian Adrian Uribe while in Atlanta. This motivated him to train harder and search for professional training.
In 2012, Diego began training at Sky Gym, an aerial and cirque arts studio. His hard work and talent earned him a spot with specialty performance troop Liquid Sky that same year. Upon acceptance into the group, Diego began training in other apparatuses such as lyra, trapeze, fire, and stilts. His talent on stilts landed him the role of the Watcher on a theatrical piece entitled Crossroads. Crossroads is a one of a kind theatrical experience that combines theater and cirque arts created by Rain Anya from Paperdoll Militia.
Diego has also been involved in charitable performances for AID Atlanta two years in a row and for his twentieth birthday, he donated a performance to the National Cancer Society. A cause that is very important to him. Throughout his career, he hopes to always give back to his community and inspire future artists to pursue their dream career and support one another.
Diego resides in Atlanta, Georgia, but travels for special engagements. He is also Bilingual. Read More
