Biography

Born in the gritty era of the 90’s, on September 25th, 1994, Christelle Shembo would enter this world without the slightest knowledge of her becoming. Brought up in a time period, where Rap, RnB, Pop and Alternative dominated the billboard charts through your boom box speakers. Young Shembo would be introduced to a substantial amount of artists that would leave a mark on her musical taste.
Influenced by her parent’s musical taste in the household, Shembo learned how to dance to the up-tempo beats of her favorite Congolese musicians like Papa Wemba, Koffi Olomide, Wenge Musica, and Makom ... a. The key was to master the music video choreography, so you could perform at various African family functions. Being able to learn the dances required listening to the music, hearing the beat, counting the cadences in your head, and knowing when to pick up or slow down the tempo. Such a beautiful skill to adopt, that Christelle would later on incorporate in her deejaying techniques.
Musically, her friendships gave her access to different styles and genres. “Diversity is what sets me apart from others as an individual and to other disk jockeys. I’m good anywhere.” Shembo proclaimed humbly. Being observant she was able to hear what her friends enjoyed listening to. Her companions trusted Shembo “on the aux”. This gave her front row to the critics’ reviews, and to DJ Shembo Slice’s liking she would be the person of choice to play the hits.
So far in Shembo's career as a traveling event Dj, she has had the pleasure of entertaining various birthday parties, baby showers, weddings, nightclubs and business events through out the Carolinas and internationally.
