Biography
Edgar Alberto: An Artist Forged in Passion and Sacrifice
The Beginnings of an Irrefutable Talent
Born on November 5, 1986, in Del Río, Texas, Edgar Alberto had music coursing through his veins from his very first breath. Son of José María Pérez, a broadcaster and musician, and Alejandrina Pérez, a talented singer, his childhood was filled with chords, sheet music, and the echo of melodies that filled his home. At age 13, a powerful passion for singing awakened in him when, intrigued by his mother’s rehearsals in a studio adjacent to their house, he decided to sing Cien años for t
... he first time.
It was a revelatory moment. His parents, with trained ears and clear vision, recognized they were witnessing a diamond in the rough. With patience and dedication, they began the arduous process of polishing it. Supported by other local music teachers, Edgar Alberto refined his technique and prepared for a debut that would shape his life.
On September 15, 2000, before an audience of approximately 200 people at the iconic Mexican restaurant Mi Tierra in Cd. Acuña, Coahuila, Edgar Alberto took the stage for the first time, introduced by broadcaster “Rafita” and backed by a representative from ANDA. Under the spotlight and with the audience’s applause, he performed the emblematic hit Lástima que seas ajena by Vicente Fernández, followed by other gems from the ranchero repertoire. That night wasn’t just his debut—it was the beginning of a career that would take him to the most prestigious stages.
The Road to International Recognition
The early years of his career were marked by intensive learning alongside his mother, whose singing career was in full swing with the release of her album Mi Sueño. This project opened doors at renowned radio stations such as La Rancherita del Aire, Radio Zócalo, Estéreo Latino, and others, allowing mother and son to share the stage at iconic venues like Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino, Televisa Piedras Negras, and Univisión San Antonio.
Over time, Edgar Alberto began to carve out his own path. In 2006, he joined the prestigious restaurant “Janitzio” in San Antonio, where his performances of traditional Mexican music captivated audiences for more than four and a half years, until the venue closed.
Objetivo Fama: A Challenge to Integrity
In 2007, after a rigorous selection process, Edgar Alberto became a finalist on the reality show Objetivo Fama 4, broadcast by Univisión and Telefutura. Weeks of rehearsals and performances helped him stand out, but upon discovering a dynamic that favored popularity over talent, Edgar Alberto made a brave decision: he refused to participate in manipulating the audience and left the show with dignity. “This isn’t how things should be done. I’d rather leave than continue in this deception,” he declared firmly. His departure was a blow to the show’s credibility, which later became embroiled in similar scandals and eventually disappeared.
Canta México Canta: Where Talent Prevails
Unlike Objetivo Fama, Canta México Canta represented a true artistic challenge. Without the influence of popularity votes, the contest focused on vocal quality and versatility. Edgar Alberto advanced to the fourth round with masterful performances of El Cantante by Héctor Lavoe and Kilómetros by Sin Bandera, showcasing his ability to adapt to different genres and captivate professional judges.
A New Goal: Music as a Platform for Change
Far from chasing fame, Edgar Alberto reunited with former stage companions and together they created Un Nuevo Objetivo, a project aimed at uplifting and supporting society rather than competing for recognition. As producer, manager, and content creator, he has led the initiative alongside Jorge, Lizmarie, and Nathalie, proving that music can be more than entertainment—it can be a force for change.
The Present: A Legacy in Progress
Today, with his own company and a life balanced between family and music, Edgar Alberto continues to share his art in restaurants, events, and recording studios. He doesn’t seek fame; he seeks authenticity. With several singles available on international platforms, his song Te quieres casar conmigo, written entirely by him, reflects his growth as a songwriter and his love for music.
You can follow his journey on all digital platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram, where he continues to create, inspire, and leave a mark with his incomparable talent.
