I am academically trained musician, although most work I have done is related to sacred and classical music because of my previous jobs positions, I can certainly play many genres of music. I am excited to play jazz, pop, R&B, and Latin. I want to expand my performance experience. I am confident on my skills and what I can accomplished. My skills are diverse but my preferences will be around piano performance, voice, organ and conducting. I am bilingual: Spanish and English so I can explore lots of repertoire.

Biography

My name is Ernesto Alejandro Alvarez Ramirez, and I was born and raced in Cuba. In my homeland, I went through an extensive music education and earned several degrees: Bachelor’s Degree in Music and Masters in Conducting & Composition.
I moved to the USA in 2016, and I am an American citizen currently living in Ferndale, Michigan. I worked as a Music Director for the past 7 years for the Dioceses of Lansing and the Archdioceses of Detroit where I have gained a favorable reputation as a skillful and effective Music Director. I am a tenor and I had the opportunity to sing in several local ch ... urches and several venues around Metro Detroit including Detroit Opera House. I also teach piano and voice privately to kids and adults.
I studied composition and conducting, I am very good at organizing and leading ensembles together, and I can write and arrange music depending on instrumentalists available. I am a vocal coach, so that is also something I can provide for singers onboard. I am a team player but also have very strong leadership skills as part of my Conducting degree and experience. My preferences will be to play the piano as a soloist, piano bar entertainer, or as part of small acoustic ensembles like duets, trios and quartets. I am open to supporting other musicians or ensembles if needed.
I am very excited to explore new genres, venues and audiences, as well as to collaborate with different musicians of diverse backgrounds, as I grow closer to creating my own musical project in the future.

Experience

Main experiences are around performing at local Churches where I played piano, organ, sing and conduct a choir and bands. I worked for the Detroit Opera House.
