Biography

Gabrielle Lee is equally at home in theater, TV/film, concert and cabaret performance, the American Songbook, and commercial modeling. She has lent her remarkable talent to backing vocals and featured performances with the New York Pops, Cab Calloway Orchestra, Ray Charles Orchestra, Aloe Blacc, Angelique Kidjo, Common, Steely Dan, Marvin Hamlisch, Natalie Cole, and many others, and got her start touring the country with the late Harry Belafonte.
She has held title roles in Broadway national and European tours, Off-Broadway, and regional theater, demonstrating versatility and stage presence ... at every level. Gabrielle performs recurrently at iconic venues including Birdland, Swing 46, The Copacabana, Carnegie Hall, and the Rainbow Room.
Gabrielle is a recurring show-jazz sensation in such countries as France, Asia, Switzerland, Holland and Germany; and leads performances and campaigns for Broadway Cares Equity Fights Aids, entertaining troops and veterans, and happy to be an International Ambassador granting wishes with Make-A-Wish Foundation International. Throughout the performance, Lee never wavers in her honest portrayal, while singing in a voice recognizably Holiday’s – unexpected fluctuations in pitch, the distinctive phrasing and vibrato – while also revealing her own chops as a singer. She tells it as Holiday told it!"

"Lee shines as Holiday. She has total command of the stage... Her excellent acting is complimented by a beautiful singing voice. What a delight to hear her renditions of songs like “When a Woman Loves a Man”, “Somebody’s on My Mind” and “God Bless the Child” and “T’ain’t Nobody’s Business if I Do,” - Lee’s delivery of “Strange Fruit” was especially poignant.
