Due to a change in personal circumstances I have decided to approach the Cruise market to perform as a Guest Entertainer. I have two 45min- 1 hour world class Mentalism/Mindreading shows with great tech designed to play the largest Theatres. I have researched other mentalists within the cruise industry and while they are few in numbers and offer adequate to good shows - I offer something FAR better.

Biography

Ian grew up in an Irish family on the Wirral in Merseyside. He was a precocious child and at the age of 10 began to study magic after his Great uncle showed him some tricks on a family holiday to Ireland. Around the same time he took up learning to play guitar. By the age of 14 he had put a family band together and began performing in venues around Liverpool and Merseyside. By the age of 16 - his band "The Real McCoy" were one of the top show bands in the Merseyside and North West region of England - they disbanded when Ian was 19. Throughout he was a keen amateur magician and mentalist.
I ... an also had an interest in martial arts and began studying Karate at the age of 15. Four year later at the age of 19 he gained his black belt. He had also done well at school attaining top A level grades. He attended the University of Liverpool studying and after three years attained his degree in History, Politics and Philosophy. He then studied for a post Grad degree in Education and Theology at the Liverpool Institute of Higher Education Christs College. He carried on with his music performing solo and with two bands in his 20's. He also wrote a number of songs and even tried - unsuccessfully for a record contract.
Ian began a teaching career (History and Philosophy) in a Junior College/High school. This lasted four years and although he loved the experience his love and passion for the art of magic and mentalism intensified and he made the decision to go professional. Whatsmore he made the momentous decision to move to the Bay Area of San Francisco in 1991 -in the days before computers and mobile/cell phones. In his first year he attained his California Teaching Certificate as a back up and did some supply/substitute teaching in local High schools in Marin County CA. He continued to do some supply work throughout the 14 years of his stay in California. However his magic career began to really take off to the extent that by the mid 90's Ian was regarded as one -if not the top magicians in San Francisco and Northern California. He performed for major corporations, Hotel chains, Hollywood Actors, Las Vegas Casinos, thousands of private individuals and on TV. One of his proudest moments was when the late great Robin Williams performed a stage show with him at a major charity event. He is also the only British entertainer to perform at the White House and for Captain and crew of the US Navy Flagship Aircraft Carrier Carl Vincen.
Ian was approached by a major toy company to produce a magic kit. He did this and put his name to Career Kids -Professional Magic - which became a best seller. Its shelf life was given at 3 years. It went on for ten! Ian has been very proud of the idea that he helped produce many magicians around the world!
After a 7 year marriage and Divorce Ian began playing with the idea of de emigrating and returning home. When his Father was diagnosed with terminal cancer - this gave him the nudge. The decision was difficult as his professional life was so good as he had also set up magic classes and summer camps in San Francisco and Marin County - teaching magic to children. However the pull of home was too great.
Ian returned to the UK about 16 years ago. He still performs magic and mentalism as a full time professional around the UK and Ireland. This has included corporate work and every other conceivable event and venue . He was very proud to rejuvinate his love of music when two of his songs were chosen for a charity album for the Great Ormond Street Childrens hospital.
Ian became a published author. He has a number of books published through Kindle and Smashwords including Jesus Christ: Magic Man, Fringe: Intriguing scientific theories that don’t make sense, The Atheist Myth and a number of publications on the art of Magic and Mentalism. He teaches professional magicians and mentalists around the world thrrough his 14 publications on the arts of mentalism and magic.
He finally had his major work in Philosopy published; - True Magic: Mind, God, Consciousness and You has been published by Kima Global Publishers who say that Ian McCoy is the first magician in history and may be the first person period to have a working comprehensive theory on the concepts of awe, wonder and astonishment.
Ian was interviewed on Sky TV for a full hour by Debbie Jones a few years ago where she remarked that he was the best magician/mentalist she had seen and more recently appeared on the RT TV show Sputnik which airs worldwide, where he talked about his work and his book. On that show George Galloway (who saw him perform in the Trump Ballroom at Turnberry Scotland) referred to Ian as "The best in the business" and the Pavarotti of magic.
Ian continues to perform around the UK and Ireland and has a number of publications through his "McCoy's Miracles" site whereby he teaches professional magicians and mentalists around the world. His most recent venture is producing two theatre shows featuring his world class Mentalism for the Cruise Industry. They are the best out there incorporating great tech and incredible routines.
