Biography

Kathleen Doherty is a versatile performer, who dynamically mixes her love of ballet with lyrical contemporary both in the air and on the floor.
She found her passion for dance at a very young age in ballet, when she was 14 she moved to America to further her studies at the Florida State University. Kathleen then completed her training in the UK with a degree from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. As a dancer she has performed and toured with companies such as Dance Theatre of Ireland and Irish Modern Dance Theatre. She has toured extensively, performing in Korea, Hong Kong, America a ... nd across Europe.
Kathleen's aerial journey spun to life with aerial hoop and quickly expanded to other disciplines. Touring with various companies including Fidget Feet Aerial Dance and Animated State brought her aerial onto walls, in theatre’s and into the sky with crane shows. Commercial aerial clients have include Merdedes-Benz and Guinness. Competing in pole, Kathleen won her category at Pole Theatre UK 2015 with a blend of lyrical contemporary and pole art.
Kathleen is also a recognised coach for dance, flexibility and the aerial arts. She has taught flexibilty and dance across Europe for companies such as En-Knap (Slovenia) in professional organisations: Dancens Hus (Denmark), Dance House Ireland, and for Dance Theatre of Ireland. She was the flexibilty and dance coach for the Irish Aerial Dance Festival and has lead dance, aerial hoop and flexibility workshops in the UK, Ireland and Portugal. Read More
