Experience
Kevin Lankford Band... "Pied Piper of Southern Soul Music"
I am a singer, dancer, entertainer with a 6-8 piece band (according to your budget) who performs tribute songs/music to the Icons of Southern Soul music. I also perform classic R&B, blue eyed soul, psychedelic soul, Philly Soul and deep Motown soul hits. (More of the great songs you don't hear repeated all the time by the "Big Chill" bands.)
Southern Soul music is a part of the fabric and culture of Black and mainstream America alike. That's what the phrase "Old School" really describes. A true original.

All that and more...
Southern Soul is gritty, funky soul that borrows from southern gospel and the hard driving energy of R&B. It's distinguished by passionate gospel like singing, punchy horns, chicken scratch guitars and tight rhythm sections. It's deep soul aimed at the heart..not the head.
Psychedelic soul is a music genre that emerged in the late 1960s and saw Black soul musicians embrace elements of psychedelic rock, including its production techniques, instrumentation, effects units such as the wah-wah pedal.
My band and I sustain that culture with a great upbeat high energy show that engages people to feel good, party, sing-a-long and dance the night away! I call it Old School fun!! "Let's get down to the real nitty gritty!"
Can ya dig it?
