Biography

Started to play sax at age ten. Became serious about pursuing a career at age fifteen. Was selected to play in the Oklahoma allstate jazz band (selected of two people out of thirty applicants). Pursued an undergraduate music education degree and jazz studies minor at the University of Central Oklahoma from 2016 to 2021.During my time at UCO I played in the top jazz band for three years of my time there. Taught K-5 general music to 500 students during the 2021-2022 academic year. Attended New England Conservatory for graduate school to study a Master of Music in jazz saxophone (2022-2024). Lear ... ned from highly regarded saxophonists/musicians (Jerry Bergonzi, Donny Mccaslin, Melissa Aldana, Ken Schaphorst, Ben Schwendener, Mark Zeleski). I became a well-rounded musician during my time at NEC instead of just a one-dimensional saxophone player. Throughout my time in school I played extensively in indie/rock, funk, jazz, pop, theater showbands, and wedding bands. Throughout the theater showband and jazz band gigs I played flute and clarinet as my doubles. I have a concrete understanding of the instruments and the role they play within these scenarios. I treat these instrument like they are my main instrument when it comes to playing them.

Experience

I've played in a showband-like scenarios before as well as performed with high level jazz bands that demanded high level musicianship from my undergraduate to graduate degrees. I'm a 2024 New England Conservatory alum that is specifically looking for this kind of work. I have great listening skills as a worker and woodwind instrumentalist throughout my musical experiences. I hold myself to a high standard to ensure that I am prepared for all musical scenarios. This is something I am willing to pursue at this stage of my life because I'm 27 years old and I want to keep growing as a performer an ... d person.
