Description
Marc Ingram is an Americana and Southern-rock songwriter whose musical roots run deep through East Tennessee’s jam-band history. A self-taught guitarist from age twelve, Marc helped form Kings of the Killer Fish, opening for Widespread Panic and Aquarium Rescue Unit. His song “Stand Up People” was recorded by ARU and released on their Interscope Records album In a Perfect World, featuring musicians who would go on to shape modern jam and Americana music.
Marc later co-led the award-winning regional jam-rock band Ridge Farm, earning honors including Band of the Year, Album of the Year,
... and Best Guitarist. With a catalog of 50+ original songs written across five decades, Marc is now releasing his music in full for the first time.
Biography
Marc Ingram’s musical life began at age twelve with a Sears Silvertone guitar, a cardboard amp, and a stubborn determination to teach himself by ear. Within a year he was playing his first show with a three-piece school band, and he’s been hooked ever since.
Growing up the son of a Methodist minister, Marc found his voice in high school bands covering everything from R.E.M. to Steve Earle, and by sixteen he had written his first original song. In the early ’90s he helped form the jam-leaning Kings of the Killer Fish, opening for Col. Bruce Hampton & the Aquarium Rescue Unit and Widesp
... read Panic before the “jam band” label even existed.
That momentum led to a defining moment in Marc’s career: his song “Stand Up People” was recorded by ARU and released on their Interscope Records album In a Perfect World. The record featured musicians who would later shape modern jam music—Oteil Burbridge (Allman Brothers Band, Dead & Company), Jimmy Herring (Widespread Panic), Jeff Sipe (Leftover Salmon), and the late Kofi Burbridge (Tedeschi-Trucks Band).
Marc went on to join his brother in the regional jam-rock group Ridge Farm, releasing the independent album Family Tree in 1996 and earning multiple Chattanooga Enigma Readers’ Choice awards including Band of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best Guitarist.
Though life eventually pulled the band into part-time mode, Marc never stopped writing. Today he has a catalog of over fifty songs written across five decades—most of which have never been properly recorded or released.
In 2025, that changes. Marc Ingram is finally bringing his entire body of work to life, honoring the long road that shaped him and the music that never stopped calling.
