Description

I have great experience performing tenor saxophone, alto saxophone and clarinet in live jazz bands and orchestras around Sydney. I graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, studying jazz under prolific musicians Kevin Hunt and Paul Mac - and have since performed all over Sydney! Most recently, I have played in the Casablanca Jazz Orchestra with iconic musicians Bootsie Booth, Ding, Murray Bishop and more, performing iconic 1920s - 1940s songs from the film's era - like "Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps", "In The Mood", "Sing Sing Sing", and even singing "The Very Thought of You" as a duet wi ... th vocalist Breanne Jayne.
My musicianship would cover any tenor or alto sax role in a jazz band, with additional roles of Bb clarinet and vocals. Having been given classical vocal training, I have a baritone vocal that can croon classics such as "Fly Me To The Moon", "Me And Mrs Jones", "Fever" by Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra and Michael Buble, and sing modern classics like "All of Me" John Legend and "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran. Thanks to my performance with the Casablanca Jazz Orchestra, I can fit to the styles of jazz, classical and pop - and especially if a theme or show era is involved.
Finally, I conduct and direct two ensembles in Sydney - the Ramshackle Orkestra, a 15 piece folk/jazz ensemble featuring brass, strings and percussion players, and the Training Band, a junior orchestra of 12 young players, based in Bundeena. The past few years, I have built up my conducting experience, where I have conducted the Ramshackle Orkestra through the renowned Art of Living Festivals, countless performances and also Casablanca Jazz Orchestra at the Sutherland Memorial Arts Centre. I look forward to undertaking more work, after being Heather Davies' understudy.

Biography

Matt Landi graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with First Class Honours and a degree in songwriting and performance. Having learnt clarinet and saxophone from a single digit age, he achieved an ATCL Certificate in Clarinet performance, and studied Saxophone at the Conservatorium. Now, Landi acts as Tenor 1 in the Casablanca Jazz Orchestra, is Lead Conductor of the Bundeena Ramshackle and Training Bands, and also a dynamic Vocalist for jazz and pop bands alike. Matt Landi loves to perform and travel the world - and would be interested in future cruise musician opportunities.
