Experience

I have been performing two to three times per week at cabarets in Montreal. I was also hired to be part of a series of street performances on St. Catherine’s Street during the summer and early fall, as well as hired to perform in a gala. Prior to that I had performed in Club Phoenix’s shows and in Halifax in festivals, parades, etc.

Meet the Act

I have a BSc (Honours) and MSc in Kinesiology from Dalhousie University. I have been involved in competitive gymnastics, diving and swimming since an early age with numerous provincial age group championships in each of these sports. I competed at a national level in both diving and gymnastics. As I got older my focus shifted entirely to gymnastics with all around wins at Elite Canada and Canadian Nationals. As a member of Canada’s national developmental and junior team from 1996 - 2003, I competed in England, Europe, Japan, and Australia.
I got my start in pole as a contestant in a fundr ... aiser for mental health called Spinning with the Stars (put on by aerial arts school Studio Inness Circus) in May of 2018. I was paired with a high-level pole dancer, and we were to prepare a show number. After Spinning with the Stars, the owner saw potential in me and gave me unlimited access to the studio and training, and got me to take many classes, train independently, perform in parades, festivals and studio showcases. It was here I really fell in love with performing and lighting up audiences. I moved to Montreal three years ago and trained at Phoenix from September 2018 until February 2019, and then from October 2019 until March 2020 when everything shut down due to Covid19.
Starting in April 2020 my training became mainly self-taught when I trained daily on a free-standing pole outside in the park. It was here that I saw my most progression due to the high volume of training. With this rapid skill development and understanding of technique I began to teach pole at Phoenix when it reopened following the first wave, and the more recently at a boutique fitness centre called Fit Vite from Spring of 2020 until now.
I have progressed to the point where I have gone beyond what I can learn at Phoenix and have been training myself, informally with other high-level pole athletes and acrobats where we exchange ideas and knowledge, as well as preforming an average of three times per week.
In October 2021 I started practicing Chinese Flying Pole, again self-taught, at Paragym space in Montreal. I have successfully adapted my skills from regular pole to this exciting apparatus and am in the process of routine and performance composition for shows.
