As a classical concert pianist for more than 40 years, I’ve reached a point of excellency that allows me to perform any kind of music by ear or by sight-reading almost instantly. I can also improvise on any theme that someone sings . That makes an incredible bound with audiences, whether in concert halls, cocktails, parties, happy hours and reunions.
I also play a very eclectic repertoire that goes from Bach to Tom Jobim , including memorable broadway songs, pop songs from the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s , Beatles, ABBA, Jewish folk songs, bossa nova, etc.

Awarded in many competitions such as T.C.U. International Concerto Competition (USA), Guiomar
Novaes South American Competition and Franz Liszt Piano Competiton (Brazil),Tavares has performed
throughout Brazil,United States,Belgium,Holland,Germany,Italy, Spain,France,Austria, and also as a
soloist with major orchestras as OSUSP, OSB,Petrobras Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra
(USA), Claudio Santoro Theatre Orchestra and Salzburg Chamber Soloists (Austria).
Also noteworthy are his performances as a recitalist and chamber musician at major festivals such as
Martha Argerich Festival (Buenos Aires), Folle Journee (Rio de Janeiro), Tchaikovsky Festival (Brasilia
DF), Les Nuits Brésiliennes (Paris, Berlin and Madrid) and International Mozart Festival
(2006,Salzburg) during the commemoration of 250 years of the composer's birth.
For seven years was awarded with scholarship from U.S. universities (Texas Christian University)
and Europe, the Royal Flemish Conservatory (Belgium), studying with the Russians Vladmir
Feltsman, Pavel Ostrovsky,lgor Resnianski, Levente Kende (Hungary), Tamas Ungar, Paul Badura-
skoda, Christofer Elton, and in Brazil with Linda Bustani, Antonio Guedes Barbosa and Silvio Merhy.
Mr. Tavares isalso known by his capacity to improvise on any kind of style, from baroque to modern
music. It happened once he was playing Beethoven's 32 Variations in C minor and included one of
his own improvisations as a variation. The result was that many musicians asked if it was an
unpublished part of the piece.
Unfortunately,his promising future as a musician had to be delayed due to his mother's and
youngest brother's illness,both suffering from schizophrenia. That demanded all his attention and
care. Thus he made a decision to go back to Brazil, giving up all future competitions.
Although, Tavares continues his career in Brazil as a concert pianist, professor and Founder
Director of the Rio Symphony Orchestra Association, promoting concerts, festivals and

As a concert pianist, I had the opportunity to play in many famous venues around the world such as Salzburg’s Mozarteum, Ed Landreth Hall in USA,Carnegie Hall in New York City, besides my extensive experience in collaboration with orchestras including my own called Rio Symphony Orchestra. I am also fluent in many music styles and improvisation as well.
